machinery feature | Screenchangers & melt fi ltration
Ettlinger’s ERF 500 boasts a maximum
throughput of 5000kg/hour
extrusion lines.
“We’ve perfected the process of fi ltering out heavy contaminants from reclaimed materials,” he said. “Because of this, proces- sors are now confi dent they can use recycled material
blends in their fi lm, sheet, pipe and profi le products.”
Screenchangers on show
Maag Filtration Systems presented its CSC 116-RS arched screenchanger at the recent Arabplast exhibition. The company says that using arched screens allows the screen surface area to be enlarged up to four times, compared with conventional
designs. The use of a CSC 116-RS helps operators to keep their production rates at consistently high levels, while at the same time signifi cantly reducing energy consumption and operating costs.
The screenchanger was part of a complete system to
make polymer in the mid-tier production range, which included the Extrex 90 GPD twin outlet gear pump – which the company says is an “absolute innovation”. Two different nozzle blocks can be supplied with an individual and constant melt stream by one extruder. The specifi c output and die pressure is guaranteed, says Maag. Operators of extrusion lines can bundle their production capacities and optimise the effi ciency of their lines by feeding two separate nozzles with different throughput and pressure demands from a single extruder. Gneuss, meanwhile, showcased several of its
innovative screenchanger technologies at the recent Interplastica show in Russia. With a fully automatic, process constant operation
and a segmental back fl ushing system, its RSFgenius offers high performance with regard to product quality and effi cien- cy. A new variant, RSFgenius M, is now available for processing highly contaminated materials. Several of these are now
running successfully in Europe, says the company.
Synchronization of the drive
and back fl ushing systems of the RSFgenius Rotary Filtration System enables a signifi cant
increase of the screen area exchange rate and represents a further optimisation of this back
fl ushing system, says Gneuss. With the Rotary Filter KR,
Gneuss now offers a discontinu- ous screenchanger based on its Rotary Filtration System. This
rugged, compact model is especially suited for
fast colour changes and now operating successfully in various compounding and polyethylene applications. And the SFpvc is the latest addition to the company’s
range of screenchangers for PVC. It is specifi cally designed for recycling highly contaminated PVC – the most challenging application for an already challenging material. The rotary screenchanger has a highly robust drive system – to handle contamination surges – and can exactly match the needs of the individual extruder.
