n 2015, many businesses are going to purchase new equipment and instruments in the fight to survive, be competitive, and achieve growth. To achieve this, investment is necessary. So why not ensure your investments in 2015 are as risk free as possible? Castle Group can help you with that. Their “Try Before You Buy” scheme allows you to take any piece of equipment at a rental price to trial in your own working environment for a week. If you then go on and decide that this is the right piece of equipment for you, they’ll refund ALL of the rental price you’ve already paid. “For example, if you hire our popular Vexo Vibration Meter and decide you’d benefit from purchasing one, we’ll refund you the whole £250.” Sarah Smith, manager of Castle Rent.

tracking the genealogy of recipes. New security-authority binding features also help manufacturers protect their intellectual property. “FactoryTalk Batch software removes risks associated with manually managing recipe changes,” said John Parraga, FactoryTalk Batch product manager, Rockwell Automation. “The upgraded software, which tightly integrates with the PlantPAx process automation system from Rockwell Automation, provides solutions ranging from small, basic sequencing to large, complex batch and sequencing applications. It simplifies the management of recipes throughout their life cycle and provides standard reports containing vital actionable information.” Administrators can use the software to assign specific people or roles to approve recipes before they advance to the production line. This structured approach provides approval traceability and allows quality control managers to easily manage recipes.

he Wixroyd range of HVAC hinges and cam locks are specifically designed to stand up to the rigorous applications of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning - HVAC. Special roller cams makes actuation of our HVAC cam locks especially easy. One of the most important advantages of our HVAC locks is the removable handle which can be easily disassembled to prevent damage, as well as to allow more space during transportation. An optional safety handle allows the latch to be opened from the inside of the cabinet when cylinder lock is in the unlocked position, an important consideration for lone workers in the HVAC environment. Air leaks through the lock are eliminated through the use of extra sealant. Our range of hinges have been specially designed for the extra rigour of HVAC applications.

SICK Profiler 2 Keeps a Low Profile for High Quality Inspection
S
ICK has introduced the Profiler 2, a short range distance sensor for accurate measurement of 2D profiles, shapes and surfaces that combines a high-performance resolution of 2 microns with a wide measurement range. The SICK Profiler 2 delivers plug-and-play performance ideally suited to production line quality inspection programmes in the robotics, automotive and electronics
industries. Its ability to measure
complex profiles with just one laser line, and analyse up to four areas at once, saves on hardware costs and installation time. “There are many applications where the production engineer doesn’t need full 3D profiling, yet requires more than a single point distance measurement,” says SICK (UK) imaging and measurement systems specialist Neil Sandhu. “The Profiler 2 combines sensor and evaluation in a single, easy to mount unit, without the need for an amplifier, monitor or another device needing additional cabling. It can therefore deliver top quality 2D resolution performance at a competitive price. “With more than 10 pre-programmed measuring functions like height, width and edge counting in just the one device, the Profiler 2 can save production time through eliminating the need for raw data conversion by other devices like CPUs in the control loop, making QC inspection a true real- time function.” The versatile Profiler 2 is ideal for measuring shapes, profiles and object angles, detecting multiple edges, monitoring gap sizes and measuring the width and thickness of components. Examples include checking the heights and lengths of geometries in assembled PCBs, or inspecting multiple edges and door gaps

in automotive manufacture. The SICK Profiler 2 scans a 32mm wide field from a range of up to 125mm high, assessing complex profiles over up to four areas at once with just one laser line, and with high reliability regardless of colour or shape. The software ensures the on-board LC display provides easy to see measurement status as well as outputting to factory control via the RS485 interface. The colour display and easy input controls, with the free software program, provides rapid set-up and intuitive on-the-spot or remote commissioning, or reset and overrides when required. Cabling is simple and the compact 40mm by 60mm by 95mm (wxhxl) unit will fit into tight spaces.

30 DECEMBER 2014/JANUARY 2015 | FACTORY EQUIPMENT enter 817 New Ellis Key
mith Flow Control (SFC), specialist in mechanical valve interlocking equipment, has re-designed the
key for its well-known Ellis interlocking range. Recognised worldwide, Ellis interlocks are used for critical process applications in oil and gas, petrochemical and water industries. The new Ellis key is suited to the most aggressive industrial environments. Featuring a spring-loaded rubber seal, which helps prevent ingress of sand, dust and water or any other foreign matter, its robust body has an ergonomically designed grip, ensuring improved handling. The re-design allows markings to be displayed on both the top and side of each key flag, making tags much easier to see.
If a key tag is
damaged during operation, the tag plate can be easily removed without needing to replace the complete key. The key is also compatible with existing plant key cabinets – all that needs replacing are the individual base plates, which clip in effortlessly. There is no change to the coded section of the key.
