PREVIEW SOUTHERN MANUFACTUIRING
THREE-DAYS OF INDUSTRIAL HARDWARE
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to FIVE, Farnborough on 10-12 February 2015 with significant changes and improvements including moving to a three-day format for the first time in its 20-year history. Following the disruption to the 2014 event caused by exceptional weather conditions European Trade & Exhibition Services (ETES) has been engaged in lengthy negotiations with the show’s insurers. The monies it has received for its claim are to be used in their entirety as a goodwill gesture. All 2014 exhibitors rebooking for 2015 will receive a credit note equal to 20% of their 2014 stand cost. “The storms of 2014 were unprecedented in the show’s long history,” comments show director Phil Valentine. “No-one regrets the disruption caused by the early closure of the show on the first day more than us. We would like to apologise for the length of time it has taken to resolve the matter. We hope this gesture will go some way to showing our appreciation for the patience and support we have received from our valued exhibitors.” By moving to a three-day event it is
hoped to ease the traffic burden on roads in and out of the site and improve access for those visiting by car. In addition, the internal layout for 2015 is designed to improve visitor flow around the venue and the number of event stewards on duty will be increased. Along with the industrial hardware on
display – everything from live machinery demonstrations to consumables and components – the event hosts a popular free seminar programme over both days. Covering both business and technical
topics the programme is delivered by acknowledged experts in their fields and designed to be of practical benefit to anyone involved in manufacturing and industry. A free-entry show for business visitors, FIVE Farnborough offers plentiful free on-site car parking and easy access by public transport.

ADHESIVES TECHNOLOGIES AND DISPENSERS
Continuous development of Henkel’s adhesive technologies and methods of application have resulted in several new additions being introduced at Southern Manufacturing 2015. A highly flexible instant adhesive LOCTITE 4902 offers elongation of up to 155% and provides a high-strength bond in seconds. It can be reliably used on plastics, rubber, metals and other substrates and is ISO 10993 biocompatible making it suitable for bonding disposable medical devices. Henkel’s award-winning TECHNOMELT range of low pressure moulding, hotmelt adhesives has been expanded. New advanced formulations are now available that are UV-stabilised, ultra-clear and chemical resistant. These address the most demanding encapsulation requirements including all types of sensors, automotive products, lighting designs and medical devices. Visitors will see the latest dispensing
equipment development including Henkel’s newly patented Jet Valve system which enables bubble-free dispensing at
up to 300 drops per second; droplets can be as small as 0.3mm depending on the adhesive used. This technology is easy to integrate thanks to its compact design and requires little maintenance.
