Maj. Edward F. Knox, USAF (Ret), Life Member (joined 1990): In his career, Knox served as a navigator assigned to B-47s in Arkansas and New York and later to C-130As in Okinawa, Japan,

regularly visiting the Vietnamese combat zone. He also served in Korea and at Valley Forge General Hospital, Pa., and the Pentagon. Beginning in 1995, he served three consecutive terms as clerk of council/fi nance director of Spring- dale, Ohio. In 2011, he was elected to the city council. Knox is a past president and the current membership chair of MOAA’s Greater Cincinnati Chapter.

Lt. Col. Willie J. Oler, USMC (Ret), Life Member (joined 1999): Oler retired from the military in 1990 and worked in the Washington, D.C., area, until he moved to Florida in 2011. There,

he works as an adjunct professor, an author, a speaker, and an entrepreneur. Oler, who received a heart and liver transplant in 2010, volunteers with LifeLink Tissue Bank in Florida to promote awareness of organ and tissue donation. He also is a member of the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Trans- portation Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee.

Lt. Gen. Michael D. Rochelle, USA (Ret), Life Member (joined 1997): Rochelle served as commanding general of Army Recruiting Command in Fort Knox, Ky. His fi nal assignment

was as the Army’s deputy chief of staff , G-1. He now is president and CEO of MDR Strategies LLC. He serves on the Member Services Committee of MOAA’s board of directors and on the boards of the MOAA Educational Foundation and Voices for America’s Troops.

Cmdr. Ed Socha, USN (Ret), Life Member(joined 1966): Socha, a Pearl Harbor survivor, is the personal aff airs offi cer and a past president of MOAA’s Sun City Center (Fla.) Chapter (SCCC).

Each year, the SCCC honors troops who have died with a living fl ag tribute on Memorial Day. Socha has helped with this eff ort for years. He also speaks about his Pearl Harbor experience and shows the MOAA colors at funerals.
