Never Stop Serving C
apt. Maurice Gauthier, USN (Ret), president and CEO of VSE Corp. since 2008, began his military career as an avia- tor and found his true calling at sea with the Navy. After retiring, Gauthier redirected his dedication to service by providing engineering and technical support to DoD and maintaining vital assistance programs for veterans. What outreach programs does VSE offer to veterans? Over our 55-year history, VSE Corp. has consistently been supportive of America’s veterans [and] active mili- tary and their families [through] personal support and transition services (within 50 miles of VSE work sites), benefits and counseling support (out to 100 miles from VSE work sites), and employment services for veterans and family members (out to 150 miles from VSE work sites). In addi- tion, VSE also provides support for the Yellow Ribbon Fund, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the Army Reserve Employer Partnership project. How can veterans take advantage of VSE’s services? Any veteran may seek as- sistance from the VSE Veterans Outreach Program. … Our first action will be to direct the veteran to special veteran service provid- ers and government agencies.
Employment assistance is the most com-
mon request. Thirty-four percent of the VSE workforce is comprised of military veterans. Over the past 48 months, we have sustained an average veteran new hire rate of 47 percent, to include 26 percent disabled veterans (disabled 10 percent or greater). Why is MOAA Life member- ship important to you? I view MOAA membership as a por- tion of my duty to “give back” to active duty, Guard, Re- serve, military retirees [and] veterans and their fami- lies. The leadership traits and responsibilities that I learned [through my] ser- vice compel me to continue to support those who have, are, or will defend our great country. … MOAA has consistently promoted the enduring values of military professionals,
served as a dominant force in shaping relevant govern-
ment policy, and effectively advo- cated for a strong national defense. — Kenya McCullum
