Many large buildings and organisations use brites for their hot water and heating requirements

and achieving renewable energy targets set out within the Government carbon reduction programme and by their respective industries. In addition to holding prestigious WFQA and ENplus accreditations and providing a guaranteed secure fuel supply for the next 20 years, brites offer customers the opportunity to benefit from zero cost heat for up to 20 years, when used in conjunction with the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). The savings offered by the RHI are significant for businesses and are acting as a huge incentive for switching to sustainable fuels, but we cannot emphasise enough the importance of researching your fuel supply and making sure your supplier can offer you security of supply so you can fully benefit from what the RHI has to offer.

About Balcas

Balcas has enjoyed over 50 years of success in the timber industry and is the largest manufacturer of premium quality wood pellet fuel, brites. The company has two dedicated brites

manufacturing plants, which generate their own energy requirements on-site; the largest of which is based in Invergordon, Scotland and the other in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. The Invergordon plant opened in

2009 representing an investment of £24 million into the local economy. Both sites use sawdust and other wood

fibre sourced locally as the raw material of the wood pellets and the fuel for the combined heat and power (CHP) energy plant. The CHP plants power these self- sustainable sites and the Invergordon plant provides a further 5MWe of green electricity to the national grid. Together the plants produce 155,000 tonnes of brites each year. Invergordon produces 100,000 tonnes, which is almost double the size of the next nearest plant in the UK, and the Enniskillen plant produces 55,000 tonnes.

About brites

The virgin wood used to make brites is locally sourced and because renewable energy is used to manufacture this fuel, brites is one of the lowest carbon wood pellets available on the market. brites are distributed directly from the manufacturing plants to hundreds of customers and brites distributors throughout GB and Ireland and from the company’s storage facilities in the Republic of Ireland and England.
