Ski holidays tend to be quite regimented and to put that to the test Mystery Shopper was keen to travel for five days in the half-term holiday. Only one of the agents, the winner, was able to offer a suitable option and came up with three quotes for three different hotels. It’s always worth giving a customer an option for seven days if that’s all that is available through tour operators. Try to reflect the value in what you’re offering and highlight the lack of operators offering a shorter break, the customer may thank you for your knowledge and book through you because you’ve gone the extra mile to offer an alternative.
Skiing with kids The best skiers start young, so try to tailor your client’s trip to include time in a ski school if children are travelling too.
The requirements for family-
friendly ski holidays are vastly different from an adult-only break, so it’s important you think less about apres-ski and more about childcare and nursery slopes. Many resorts have nannies
and crèches for tiny tots, plus English-speaking ski schools for children aged four or more.
Alternative activities Supply your client with information and prices for lift passes and equipment hire, as it’s unlikely the parents are going to want to lug around lots of luggage if they have kids in tow. It’s also crucial to find
resorts with family rooms or interconnecting options, plus child-friendly activities to fill non-skiing days, such as dog- sledding or ice skating. Even something as simple as areas to build a snowman.
