The Earl of Wessex told MIPIM UK how the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award inspires young people and could be of use to the industry


“I


’m a landlord. I’m always looking for occupiers,” the Earl of Wessex told a room full of business owners at MIPIM UK yesterday.


He went on to quip that he had a rather


nice prime central London property that some might know, if they fancied it. Prince Edward was at Olympia as part of the show’s support for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity. Having obtained his own Gold Award in


1986, the prince told the room about the benefits of the award to employees and industry in general before handing the room over to hear from inspirational DofE award holder Spencer Aston (see panel overleaf).


With an industry fighting hard to win


and retain talent, the prince said seeing a DofE award on a CV would help employers find the right people. He also spoke about how the DofE could help the property industry welcome
