WALKERS NAMED CAYMAN HEDGE FUND LAW FIRM OF YEAR IN SERIES OF AWARDS
Leading international law firm Walkers is pleased to announce that its Global Investment Funds Group has been recognised with four accolades in the 2014 Acquisition International Fund Awards, including Hedge Fund Law Firm of the Year – Cayman Islands.
These prestigious awards highlight the depth of expertise across Walkers' Global Investment Funds practice, with recognitions for the firm's legal services in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Jersey.
The roll of honour in the 2014 Acquisition International Fund Awards included the following awards for Walkers: Hedge Fund Law Firm of the Year – Cayman Islands, Investment Funds Law Firm of the Year – British Virgin Islands and Investment Funds Law Firm of the Year – Channel Islands.
Alongside the three jurisdictional awards, Ingrid Pierce, Walkers' Global Managing Partner and
Head of the Cayman Islands Investment Funds Group, was named as Investment Funds Lawyer of the Year 2014 – Cayman Islands.

MAPLES ADVISES KUWAIT ENERGY PLC ON ITS $250M NOTES OFFERING
Maples and Calder's London office acted as BVI counsel to Kuwait Energy plc on its $250 million high- yield bond offering. Kuwait Energy is an independent MENA oil and gas exploration and production company based in the Middle East, overseeing operations in various countries including Egypt, Iraq,
Yemen and Oman. A portion of the proceeds of the bond will be used to refinance existing bank facilities, partially fund capital expenditures, and for general corporate purposes. London-based partner Matthew Gilbert led the Maples and Calder team, assisted by associate Joanna Dinning.

MOURANT OZANNES ADVISES SNC-LAVALIN ON ITS £1.2 BILLION TAKEOVER OF KENTZ
Leading offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has advised SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. on its takeover of FTSE 250 company Kentz Corporation Limited.
The takeover, which was implemented by way of a Jersey court sanctioned scheme of arrangement, valued Kentz at approximately £1.2 billion.
SNC-Lavalin is one of the leading engineering and construction groups in the world and a major player in the ownership of infrastructure, providing EPC and EPCM services to clients in a variety of industry sectors and combining these services with its financing and operations and maintenance capabilities to provide complete end-to-end project solutions. The company is headquartered in Montreal, Canada and is publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Kentz is a global engineering specialist solutions provider, providing engineering, construction and technical support services to clients in the energy and resources sectors for more than 90 years. The company is incorporated in Jersey and
was listed on the London Stock Exchange until the completion of its acquisition by SNC-Lavalin, which created a group with approximately 45,000 employees.
The Mourant Ozannes team advising SNC-Lavalin was led by partner James Hill and senior associates Jon Woolrich and Andrew Salisbury. Mourant Ozannes provided Jersey law advice to SNC-Lavalin on all aspects of the transaction.
