Tupy Receives Award From Volkswagen


Iron block and cylinder head maker


Tupy, Joinville, Brazil, received the Volk- swagen Group Award this year. It honors global suppliers that fulfi ll the expecta- tions of product development, innovation capacity, quality and eff ectiveness serving the group’s diff erent plants. Engine blocks and cylinder heads, in addition to other Tupy engineering parts supplied by the Brazil and Mexico plants, are present in Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen cars, as well as in VW (the 2014 Beetle is pictured), MAN and Scania trucks and buses around the world. 


Evans Industries Purchases Meloon


Detroit-based private equity fi rm Evans Industries Inc. has purchased the assets of Meloon Foundries Inc., Syra- cuse, N.Y. Evans Industries owns other metalcasting operations in the United States, including Auburn, Ind.-based Ball Brass & Aluminum Foundry Inc. Meloon produces aluminum and copper-based castings using the nobake and green sand processes, as well as providing patternmaking and fi nishing. Its products are up to 93 x 93 in. in size, weighing from ounces to 1,000 lbs. 
