variable frequency The PCR4000M, a 4kW variable frequency AC power supply, has been made available by Kikusui's UK Distributor Telonic Instruments. The power supply expands Kikusui's exisiting PCR500M, PCR1000M, PCR2000M and PCR4000M variable frequency (40-500Hz) AC power supplies.

The PCR4000M features AC, DC and AC+DC output, memory function, current limit and selectable start phase. Users are able to measure not only voltage, current and power of the AC and DC output, but also apparent power, reactive power, power factor, crest factor and current peak hold. Equipped with an RS-232C interface, the device comes complete with control/logging software as standard.

A number of options are available including GPIB, USB and an analogue input card which allows the frequency converters to be used as power amplifiers. Applications for the PCR4000M include avionics testing (400Hz 115VAC for seating, cabin

electronics and audio visual products), measuring power factor on LED lighting and power adapter testing to simulate real world power conditions.

The PCR500/1000/2000M and 4000M are available for both purchase and hire from Telonic Instruments.

packs a high-end performance punch Display Solutions offers the new 3.5” SBC industrial board from ASRock, the SBC-210. Incorporating the latest Intel Atom processor, the SBC-210 delivers high-end performance for a wide range of professional equipment, as well as digital signage, POS systems, kiosks, panel PCs and applications in the automation market.

The SBC-210 integrates the latest Intel Atom Baytrail processor, meeting the most recent operating systems requirements. The board is rich in I/O features, including 6 USB ports and 4 COM ports within a small compact footprint of 148 x 102mm. Supporting a single channel DDR3L 1333MHz, the system can hold up to 8GB in memory.

“I am excited to add this new industrial board from ASRock to our portfolio,” comments Brendan O’Reilly, product manager at Display Solutions. “ASRock is

effectively the third largest manufacturer of motherboards in the world, and because of this, the SBC-210 is based on both commercial and industrial components; making this particular board especially cost-effective compared to full industrial solutions.”

The SBC-210 is completely fanless; the underside can accept a heat sink for efficient and effective conduction cooling, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use within operating temperatures ranging from 0ºC – 60ºC.

Switchtec’s HV DC relays use proprietary ceramic

chamber for high arc extinguishing capability With the continuing growth of the renewable energy market, including electric vehicles and the storage of DC energy, there is a parallel requirement within these applications to switch high voltage DC circuits. Available from specialist distributor Switchtec, Hongfa’s high voltage DC power relays are designed to offer superior performance and reliability in these applications. The relays use Hongfa’s own patented technology and independent intellectual property to achieve high levels of performance.

Dubbed the HFE18 and HFE80, the relays feature a ceramic chamber filled with a mix of hydrogen and nitrogen gas that provides high arc extinguishing capabilities and a high DC voltage cut-off. This feature also protects the contacts against environmental oxidation and corrosion, thus extending relay life even further.

The relays cover a range of rated currents from 10A to 300A with rated voltages from 12VDC to 750VDC. The maximum switching voltage can be as high as 1000VDC. The HE80V series relays is aimed at automated guided vehicles (AGV), personnel and tourist transportation shuttles, forklifts, golf carts, community vehicles, while the HFE80 series is designed for PV, UPS and transformer applications. The HFE18V is aimed at alternative energy vehicles, and the HFE18 is aimed at other DC input and output applications. So there is a relay in the range for virtually any kind of HVDC switching where a compact relay is required.
