Anglia Live 2.0 offers forward ordering, faster search and volume contract pricing
At the beginning of the Summer Anglia released the first major upgrade to its Anglia Live online sales environment. There were over 2,500 individual enhancements to the site, the most significant including a fast search feature which halves the search time, comprehensive forward and back ordering facilities, volume contract pricing and the facility to search suppliers' full database of parts including parts not currently stocked by Anglia. According to Steve Rawlins, CEO of Anglia, "Anglia Live is able to takes projects seamlessly from embryonic design to volume production. The new features now make it an even more effective tool. Design engineers and buyers use Anglia Live to research component availability as well as to place orders. They will now be able to find the information they need faster, and have much more flexibility to order the parts they need for delivery
when they need them." He continued, "We are the only UK distributor offering our customers the opportunity to search across all active part numbers from our suppliers. Unlike other leading online component sourcing environments, the stock on Anglia Live really is live. Place an order and you'll see the stock level change before your eyes. Designers can work from Anglia Live with confidence, getting clear visibility of current and future availability for all the parts that they specify on their bill of materials." The comprehensive parametric search engine in Anglia Live has been enhanced with the addition of a fast search facility, which reduces the search time by half. Anglia Live also lists all active supplier part numbers, including lines not held in stock, and cross-references over 2 million industry standard part numbers. Farnell launches new Raspberry Pi board with added connectivity and power features
Farnell unveiled a new Raspberry Pi B+ board in July, marking the first significant change to the multi-million selling credit card-sized computer. Available to buy immediately through element14 the new board offers more sensors and accessories, and will enable users to build bigger and better projects. Additions to the board include advanced power management and enhanced connectivity making it possible to power four USB accessories such as a 2.5 inch hard drive through the device. Up to 1.2A can be delivered to the USB ports to connect power-hungry devices and accessories without needing mains power or an external USB hub. Featuring a 40-pin extended GPIO, even more sensors, connectors and expansion boards can be added to the board, allowing users to increase the complexity of their Raspberry Pi projects. The first 26 pins remain identical to the original Raspberry Pi Model B for 100% backward compatibility.
"The new Raspberry Pi B+ marks the first major re-design of what has been one of the stand-out tech products in the last few years," said Claire Doyle, global head of Raspberry Pi at element14. "We've already seen the board drive some amazing designs, but the B+ model opens up the opportunity to push the

boundaries of complexity and innovation to make even bigger and better projects. It is also the board that can open up a whole new area of learning for young people."
The Raspberry Pi B+ is based on the
same Broadcom BCM2835 Chipset and 512MB of RAM as the previous model. It is powered by micro USB with AV connections through either HDMI or a new four-pole connector replacing the existing analogue audio and composite video ports. The SD card slot has been replaced with a micro-SD, tidying up the board design and helping to protect the card from damage. The B+ board also now uses less power (600mA) than the Model B Board (750mA) when running. According to Eben Upton, CEO of Raspberry Pi Trading, "We've been blown away by the projects that have been made possible through the original B boards and, with its new features, the B+ has massive potential to push the boundaries and drive further innovation. We are really looking forward to continuing our relationship with element14 and ensuring widespread adoption of the new board."
Since its launch in February 2012 over
three million Raspberry Pi boards have been sold.
parametric search engine populated with data verified and entered by Anglia to ensure complete consistency of presentation.
Anglia Live 2.0 is also able to support back and forward ordering, and allows customers to place orders on-line at their
negotiated contract price. Customers can place forward orders up to one year in advance, and specify an exact delivery date and can also place back orders on standard parts when current stock levels aren't sufficient to meet their requirements.
