Nevis offers an abundance of opportunities to really appreciate this authentic Caribbean island year round. Day one should be spent exploring its many exhilarating activities: take an escorted hike up Mount Nevis in the morning or explore the island by horseback, then spend the afternoon in the crystal waters: snorkelling, diving or any other water-based activities you fancy. On day two, dive into Nevis’s rich culture; visit one of the island’s many museums to learn of the history, including Horatio Nelson’s influence on the isle, and explore the beautiful botanical gardens. It is easy to hire a car and explore independently, or there are tours. On day three, visit the capital or head to Pinneys Beach and enjoy one of the beachfront bars. Following my visit to Puerto Rico in June 2014, I discovered there is so much to do! Rent a car and watch the adventures unfold… A walking tour of Old San Juan is a must-do experience. With its distinctive blue cobbled streets, Spanish-influenced open plazas and small boutiques, Old San Juan is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll. For adrenaline junkies, visit the Toro Verde Adventure Park and conquer ‘The Beast’, one of the longest and highest zip lines in the world. For R&R visit Vieques Island, beautiful, untouched and tranquil. Just a short flight or ferry ride from mainland Puerto Rico, you can horseride on the beach, cycle round the island, kayak the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay, or relax in the peace and tranquillity.
