NOVUS CHALLENGE
Teams take to the hills in Novus triple Lake District challenge
>
The second Northwest Novus Challenge took place in July in
the Lake District.
After last year’s Three Lakes kayaking event, this year, the kayaking was restricted to Windermere’s 18km length, followed by a bike ride from Ambleside, alongside Rydal and Grasmere, then the long uphill drag of Dunmail Raise. Leaving the bikes at the summit,
competitors continued on foot to tackle the steep climb up to Helvellyn, England’s third highest peak, then a ridge walk before dropping down to High Row and back to base on the shores of Ullswater. A total of 12 teams of two from Novus
groups, universities and industry took part. Kier beat Novus London by half a kayak length in the first leg. The first Novus team to stand on the pedals up Dunmail Raise and make it to the finish was Novus West Midlands.
CAREER LONDON NOVUS TO HOST OPEN HOUSE CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS INVITED TO TAKE INSPIRATION FROM NOVUS MEMBERS
London Novus is holding an open house event for construction students and young professionals on 22 October in the City of London. Members of the Novus group will

More recently, she a enjoyed a role working on the Olympic Park
with Taylor Wimpey and along the way has won herself awards from the Construction Youth Trust. She has been described by one United House director as the “future of the industry”. Turner and her Novus colleagues,
whose levels of experience and study routes are wide and varied, can provide guidance and advice to those working and studying within the construction industry.

inter-Novus challenge was tied between London and West Midlands. The winners were decided by a quiz question and Etienne Le Roux and Neal Mansukh of Novus London won. Kier’s Mark Starling and Stuart Cleworth, who although not part of a Novus group, deserve recognition for outstanding performance in each leg. Novus London will host next year’s challenge.
