COMPANY PROFILE
At WGL, our vision is to be the preferred source of clean and efficient energy solutions that produce value for customers, investors and communities. We achieve this vision through balancing financial, environmental and social considerations across all business segments.
We advocate
values of diversity, innovation, service, sustainability and performance; and we exemplify our unique, relevant and vital market position in all that we do.
These efforts help us to grow our business and provide energy solutions that meet customer needs. That service, in turn, enables us to target top quartile performance and attractive financial returns for shareholders.
Our company has five main operating segments: Washington Gas, a regulated natural gas utility; Washington Gas Energy Services, one of the largest natural gas electricity and clean energy suppliers in the mid-Atlantic; Washington Gas Energy Systems, a distributed generation and energy efficiency business; WGL Midstream, a wholesale energy solutions business; and Hampshire Gas, a natural gas storage business.
From our natural gas utility to our recognized enterprises in retail supply, midstream, distributed generation and energy efficiency, we are pursuing opportunities that deliver stable, dependable value to our stakeholders.
Today, with U.S. activities in more than 25 states and a growing customer base across a diversified energy portfolio, we have emerged as a trusted source for energy answers.
Diversity Delivering on our vision comes from a set of shared values that guide how we work each and every day. We deliver value through the diversity of our energy solutions, markets and people. From the natural gas we deliver to more than 1.1 million customers in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, to the renewable wind power we offer across the mid-Atlantic, to solar PV, solar thermal, combined heat and power, and fuel cell solutions we offer across the United States, we maintain a diverse portfolio to meet the needs of different customers in different ways.
Innovation We embrace innovation to drive
performance safety and reliability. Our midstream investments in the Constitution Pipeline and Atlantic Sunrise pipeline project in Pennsylvania will take advantage of the advancing technology to bring inexpensive shale gas market and help heat the homes to thousands of residents. We support natural gas fuel cell technology at our own Springfield Center facility, which recently achieved LEED Gold certification, and now we are bringing that technology to high demand markets, through our recent partnership
Performance We seek to achieve high performance throughout our company to deliver solutions that are both visible and valued. The recognition we have received for that performance spans across all of our business segments. Whether a commendation for our efforts to assist our neighbors in New York through Hurricane Sandy relief, our consistently high ratings in customer satisfaction for our utility, a District of Columbia Mayor’s Sustainability award for outstanding environmental
