BUZZBAIT D

ustin Doskocil is a professional photographer and tournament

kayak angler based in Dallas, Texas. In addition to shooting for Kayak Angler, Bending Branches and NuCanoe, he also works on photo shoots for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. “Both fishing and photography require focus,” says Doskocil.

FLASHLIGHT

Great for adding extra light in low- light situations.

UNDERWATER HOUSING

I love to get underwater shots of big fish. A soft housing is sufficient for shallow water.

FLASH SYNCS

Links my camera to my flashes so I can operate the flash off the camera.

CAMERA REMOTE

Reduces camera shake on long expo- sures. Great for selfies.

MULTI TOOL

Pliers, screw drivers and a bottle opener come in handy.

POLARIZERS

Filters that make colors pop and reduce glare.

LENS

CLEANING CLOTH

Wipe off water spots and fish slime.

CAMERAS

I bring two 12 MB SLR cameras, one with a zoom and one with a wider lens.

AA and AAA BATTERIES

Flashes use a lot of juice—bring extras.

FLASH ATTACHMENT

Attaches my flash to a tree branch or fishing rod.

down and fish,” he says. Kayak Angler asked Doskocil to

TRIPOD

Steady the camera in low light. Doubles as a flash stand.

CLAMP

Fasten a reflector to a stand or keep a bag of chips closed— too many uses to list.

MEMORY CARDS

The worst feeling is to shoot all day and when the light gets good at sunset find a full memory card. I carry 300 GB.

HEADLAMP

Good for loading and unloading in the dark or digging around in your dry bag.

CARABINERS

Used to tether my dry bags to my boat.

BATTERIES

Always carry extra camera batteries.

LENSES

My two main lenses are a 70–300mm and 24–70mm zoom. I also like to carry my 50mm 1.4 and 20–35mm for wide-angle shots.

FLASHES

Carry two flashes for extra light or a back up.

DRY BAG

The only barrier between water and expensive camera equipment.
