HB Public Law is a new public sector legal practice delivering legal services for Harrow and Barnet councils and other public sector bodies in the local area. We are one of the first local authority legal teams to apply for an ABS licence. Having rapidly established ourselves at the forefront of the sector through our innovative approach to legal services, we are now expanding the practice and are looking to appoint to a number of roles.
Hosted at Harrow, HB Public Law currently has 70 lawyers working in specialist teams. Applicants will be implementing and supporting our cutting edge practice management process.

Commercial Lawyers – Uniquely interesting work
HMRC is recruiting exceptional solicitors and barristers with commercial and public procurement experience to join its Solicitor’s Offi ce, which has recently won The Lawyer award for In-house Public Sector Team of 2013.
HMRC employs over 63,000 staff (20% of the entire Civil Service) and has one of the largest IT and real property estates in Government. The Solicitor’s Offi ce is based in London and Manchester and provides the Department with legal advice, drafting and litigation services across the full range of its functions.
Commercial legal work at HMRC is cutting-edge and the Commercial legal team provides legal support to some of the most high profi le, high value and complex public procurement and contractual commercial legal issues within Government, The team has experienced an increase in workload, largely due to pressure to drive value from departmental contracts and from involvement in a number of innovative programmes and projects.
Successful candidates will have commercial and public procurement experience, and will be able to demonstrate that they have high intellect, sound analytical skills and judgment, excellent negotiating and drafting skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels and adopt a pro-active, collaborative and strategic approach to providing comprehensive, risk-based legal advice to internal clients within tight timescales. Most of the work is undertaken in-house; where external lawyers are instructed, the team is responsible for managing legal spend. In due course there may be opportunities to work in other parts of Solicitor’s Offi ce.

Salaries: Manchester £46,983 London £52,669
(With the possibility of higher starting pay for very strong candidates for lawyers with 2 years + PQE). If you have less than two years PQE, you will be appointed as a Legal Offi cer on a salary of £35,232 Manchester or £37,990 London.
