Solicitor/Barrister - £30,380 - £34,640 (pro-rata where applicable)


Chartered Legal Exec - £24,892 - £28,992 (pro-rata where applicable)


Scarborough Borough Council’s award winning Legal team is seeking to expand, through the recruitment of additional expertise across the range of local government legal practice areas, with particular emphasis on the following:-


• Commercial Contracts & Procurement • Criminal & Civil Litigation, including Housing Litigation


Applicants with PQE in either of the above areas are encouraged to apply. Local government experience is essential for the Contracts work, and desirable but not essential for the Litigation/ Housing work. In addition to having significant experience in either of these areas, the successful applicant will be expected to assist with a wide range of local authority legal matters where necessary, therefore experience in Planning, public sector Property, Employment, Licensing, or advising Committees would be advantageous, though not essential.


The Council operates a flexible working scheme and is keen to hear from applicants interested in full time, part time or job share roles. It is likely that there will be more than one position available.

Contracts Lawyer £35,784 to £38,422 per annum


• Ref: RMBC/14/0276 We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a busy in-house Lexcel accredited Legal Services Department with a forward thinking local authority.


We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer with post qualifi cation experience.


You will be an important part of our busy Commercial Team with experience in contracts, commercial and procurement matters. You will have a diverse caseload, which will include drafting, interpreting and advising on contracts for all of the Council’s functions, and advising in relation to procurement rules and procedures.


Local government experience is desirable but not essential.


In addition to a competitive salary there is a generous holiday allowance, pension and an opportunity for fl exible working.
