PATIENT ACCESS IMPROVED WITH TORMAX S

implifying access for patients and busy staff at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, TORMAX automated four internal swing door entrances using their advanced iMotion 1301 operators. Powered by almost ‘wear-free’ AC synchronous motors, iMotion door drives require minimal ongoing maintenance in order to continue delivering incomparable levels of reliability. A significant resource for Scotland, the Golden Jubilee National Hospital has approximately 1,500 staff. It is home to key heart and lung services, is a major centre for orthopaedics and is the flagship hospital for reducing waiting times in key elective specialties.

“Automating key internal entrances is part of an ongoing programme of upgrade within the hospital,” comments Paul Hogg, Operations and Engineering Manager for the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. “TORMAX operators were selected as they represent a cost-effective, reliable solution with high levels of functionality to accommodate the different levels of foot traffic anticipated throughout a working day.” TORMAX iMotion motors do not feature any gears or brushes – key elements that generally require regular replacement due to wear and tear. This advanced design ensures outstanding levels of reliability, even when installed in areas of near-constant use

such as the Golden Jubilee. Combining such exceptional longevity with a recyclable content of nearly 95% and low-energy operation, iMotion also represents a sustainable solution. “Automatic doors are critical for healthcare facilities and not just in ensuring a smooth through-flow of staff, patients and visitors,” explains TORMAX MD Simon Roberts. “They also minimise the spread of germs, smoothly swinging open as people approach and negating the need to touch any of the surfaces.” TORMAX has over 60 years experience in the design, manufacture and installation of automatic door entrance systems. Designed in-house, all iMotion operators are fully compliant with CE and RoHS standards and are tested in excess of current industry requirements of one million cycles. Two further sets of TORMAX automatic swing door operators are shortly to be installed at the Hospital.
