FACILITIES SHOW
UNIQUE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WASTE DISPOSAL MTS is leading the way in recycling sewage waste. We have an innovative in-house treatment facility run by our sister company Composting Facilities Services Ltd (CFS). This industrial scale in-vessel composting system is the first of its kind in the UK. Waste from sewer cleaning contracts and grits and screenings direct from waste treatment works are recycled into a beneficial soil conditioner. The plant is fully licensed by the Environment Agency and treats around 17,000 tonnes of waste per year which would otherwise have been destined for expensive and unsustainable landfill.
MTS carried out essential maintenance to the Bluewater reed beds by successfully removing 90 tonnes of silt and 10 tonnes of reeds which were transferred to local recycling sites. The work took careful account of ecological factors and the biodiversity of the site.
The refreshed reed beds continue to keep the surrounding lakes in perfect condition.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS A WEEK MTS provides emergency and reactive services for local authorities, housing associations and regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency. We respond to all kinds of incidents including:
• •
•
Overflow and pollution from drains Flooding from watercourses and storm events
Spillages due to blockages in pipes and culverts or road traffic accidents Our extensive fleet of specialist jetting and vacuum combination units is suitable for all kinds of blockage and cleaning work. Our jetting tankers have moveable partitions which allow them to carry clean water for jetting and collected waste at the same time. We regulate how much clean water, waste water and waste is carried for each project, offering our customers a more efficient service and better value for money. We offer the country’s largest fleet of water recycling units. These units re-use dirty water for jetting tanks and sewers, a more sustainable and cost effective option which allows us to stay on site for longer. During the unprecedented wet weather over the winter of 2013/2014, the majority of the MTS tanker fleet was in constant demand with emergency flood work and related incidents.
Antony Crust, MD of MTS said; “In nearly 30 years in the industry, we’ve never
experienced such high demand for our reactive services over such a lengthy period of time. Our network of local depots across the south east means we can be extremely flexible and provide the quickest possible response. Plus our field teams operate around the clock every day of the year, so there’s always someone to take your call.”
CCTV SURVEYS
MTS CCTV units are built to meet the highest standards of quality and safety demanded by the water and rail industries. All rigs have direct web links to the office and on board reporting which delivers survey results straight to the customer from site. We use the latest version of industry standard software (Wincan) for multi-media reporting and store all survey results for twelve months.
NOT ON MAINS DRAINAGE? In 1986 the founders of MTS began working with domestic cesspools and septic tanks and we continue to serve commercial and residential customers who are not on mains drainage. We install, service, clean and repair all makes of private wastewater treatment plant and pump stations. We can advise on every stage of the process and provide an accredited British Water engineer as a single point of service. Our service can combine emptying with jet washing and repairs to soakaways and drains.
