members Angel Escobedo and Reece Humphrey, and current Ohio State wrestler and three-time NCAA champion Logan Stieber. “They are some of the best guys in the country at in their weight classes,” Tomasello said. “Just being able to pick their minds a little bit has been a gift – a real blessing. It’s been great to wrestle against them and to compete against them in the wrestling room.”

Rosselli agrees, and sees how Escobedo, Humphrey and Stieber are bringing out the best in Tomasello.

“They are helping him raise his level of intensi-

ty,” Rosselli said. “Elite young athletes go through high school and have won everything, and then they get to Ohio State where you com- pete against people who have also won on almost every stage. Escobedo, Humphrey and Stieber help him bring his ‘A’ game. Just knowing he has to compete every day at practice has raised his level.”

Raising his level in the wrestling room includes working on making improvements every day. Tomasello is working on his par terre wrestling, trying to improve from the top and bottom posi- tion and with his turns.

“I noticed a lot of guys in Las Vegas were able to get three or four turns that really opened up the match,” Tomasello said. “So for right now, my focus is on being one of the best guys on top and being able to set up my shots more.”
