Swansea University has launched a new microsite documenting student experiences, alumni stories and life in Swansea. The site, named Bright

Futures, was created by the web development team at Epiphany. It is designed to appeal to prospective students who are about to make the potentially life- changing decision of choosing which university to commit to. The University’s marketing

team worked with Epiphany to build a digital showcase of what Swansea University has to offer. The site takes the experience of physically visiting the University and delivers it

online, through digital media. Catherine Mullin, director of

marketing at Swansea University, said: “From experience we know that open day visitors get a real feel for the quality of our campus, our students and staff, and are more likely to name us as their first choice on their UCAS form. We wanted to give students who weren’t able to atend our open days the same insight into Swansea University, and the site we created provides exactly that.” The Bright Futures site acts as an interactive hub of content

that provides information on student life, learning and living in Swansea, complete with video, Instagram photography and quotes from students. Dave Sellers, the web developer

on the project, said: “The website is available in both English and Welsh, and uses content pulled from Twiter and Instagram APIs as well as embedded YouTube videos. The responsive site, built using entirely front-end technologies, has a tiled interface that utilises the Isotope plugin for jQuery to handle the layout.”
