Sandals plans makeover in Barbados
SANDALS Barbados will close on April 1 to undergo a wide-ranging makeover that will include the refurbishment of the resort’s 280 existing rooms and the introduction of seven new gourmet restaurants, including Sandals’ first ever Indian restaurant (taking the total number of outlets to 10). Other additions include an exclusive
Club Sandals lounge, departure lounge, an expanded Red Lane® Spa, a wedding garden, Sandals Signature swim-up pool bar, fire pits and a beachfront whirlpool. English Guild-trained butlers will also be introduced for the first time. The resort is expected to reopen in
December and guests can relocate their existing booking to any of the other Sandals Resorts and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts in Saint Lucia, Antigua, Jamaica or the Bahamas (excluding Sandals Emerald Bay, Sandals Royal Plantation and Sandals LaSource Grenada),
including any
airfare change fees.

British Airways has more fun in the sun
BRITISH Airways plans to increase its
long-haul flights from Gatwick
later this year, with extra services to the Caribbean and Florida from October 26. And for the first time, the airline will be operating non-stop flights to Punta
Cana in the Dominican
Republic, with a twice-weekly service. That means extra seats are available on flights to Antigua, which previously continued on to Punta Cana three times a week. The number of flights to Orlando
will increase from seven to 10 a week, while an additional flight to Tampa, will see services to the Gulf Coast- based city rise to daily. In the Caribbean, two extra flights a
week to Barbados will bring the total to 12 a week during the peak winter season, and an extra weekly service to Kingston will see four flights a week to the Jamaican capital.
