RDM restructures and makes key appointments to support plans for global growth

RESOURCE DATA Management (RDM) has restructured its operations and announced a number of key appointments to support ambitious plans for global growth.

Following the acquisition of Taiwan manufacturer FYC in 2008 and Indian software company Resorsys (now renamed RDM India) in 2009, and the successful opening of RDM’s US office in 2012, the next major step was to form a new group structure.

The creation of RDM Group sees the appointment of Enrico Mirandola, formerly managing director at Carel UK, to the position of group sales director.

Mr Mirandola joins as a main board director with responsibility for growing and managing RDM’s sales and marketing teams, covering Europe, the Far and Middle East, Africa and the US. He joins the group board made up of Andrew Chandler, managing director, Gordon McBride, operations director, and Alan McBride, research and development director. Mr Mirandola said: “Having been in the hvacr sector for 20 years, I have been particularly impressed by RDM’s products,

and specifically their

combination of power and ease of use, which is well received by installers and users alike. “While RDM began in refrigeration, and that remains a key market, I see great potential for expanding the range of sectors we operate in, spanning commercial buildings, retail, leisure, healthcare, industrial manufacture and food production. Another market which has large growth potential in the UK and overseas is RDM’s web-based FM monitoring service.” Another major industry figure, Bob Arthur, an independent consultant with Bowlin, has been appointed to manage and expand RDM’s distribution network in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He will source new business and identify new RDM distributors.

Mick Padgett, formerly national accounts manager at WR Refrigeration, has been appointed as a senior account manager with responsibility for major UK clients. Announcing the new structure, Andrew Chandler said: “I am delighted to announce these changes to our business and these

new appointments, which are designed to underpin our next stage of growth. Demand for RDM products is growing rapidly, with many new customers converting to our systems due to their power, ease of use and cost- effectiveness.

“These new appointments bring unprecedented levels of professionalism, deep knowledge and experience of the marketplace, with a proven track record in their respective fields. This will help us manage the expanding global demand for RDM products, and provide invaluable insights to help us continue to anticipate future needs. It is an exciting time to be in the controls business.”

Are air conditioning firms too content to pursue growth in 2014?

CONFIDENCE IS sweeping back into the UK air conditioning industry. Yet, latest figures show that just under half of all firms are increasing sales, whereas half are improving profits. Plimsoll’s latest 2014 market report suggests air conditioning firms may well be putting security ahead of growth. Bucking this trend however is a band of 44 firms who are delivering growth

rates of up to 8%, their market share jumping from 4% to 9% in just two years. Plimsoll’s findings concluded: ■ 44 firms have seen their sales increase by over 8%

■ These 44 firms now sell on average £11 million per year up from £9 million two years ago

■ Of the 1000 firms

analysed, the average sales increase is only 2.5%

■ However, only 476 companies have increased their sales

David Pattison, Plimsoll’s senior analyst, said: “These 44 firms are heading-up the new direction of the market and the other companies must take notice.

“With salaries up and gross margins down, it’s clear as costs grow then sales need to increase to pay for it.”
