new COO Jennifer Nevin is the new chief operating officer of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), replacing recently retired executive director Gene Jeffers. Jennie, formerly director of operations and a deputy executive director for the Hollywood Radio & Television Society in Los Angeles, was appointed by the TEA following an extensive executive search. She met many of association's members at the recent IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, where the TEA booth is always a bustling spot to be. During the event. Gene Jeffers was honoured for more than a decade of service to the association by being presented with an Alaskan cruise for him and his wife. No doubt the keen photographer will find plenty to snap during the trip. Looking back on, “twelve wonderful years,” Gene highlighted how the work of TEA members is increasingly relevant in today's society. “Making people smile is important now more than ever,” he said.

chain for France Splashworld is the name chosen for a planned chain of waterparks being developed by the French entrepreneur Frederic Bouvard, and the first outlet will open next summer – all being well – in Monteux near Avignon. Kitted out by Polin Waterparks & Pool Systems, which already enjoys a large market share in France, it will enjoy the distinction of being the country’s first and only themed waterpark. The attraction mix has yet to be revealed but Park World understands it will include a world premier, a world’s largest and several biggest of their kind attractions in Europe Located in the beautiful Provence region, the inaugural Splashworld will also benefit from easy access to the A7, the continent’s busiest highway, used by many Northern Europeans heading for summer holidays in the south of France, Spain and Italy. Additional waterparks are planned over time in France and abroad. “On site construction is currently in full swing with the goal to open in June 2014,” reveals Bouvard. “So far it looks good but we need to a have achieved a certain milestone to be sure to open in 2014. We can’t take the risk to miss a portion of the season, which is quite short, so if we have not reached that milestone, we will postpone the opening to 2015.” Frederic Bouvard has over 25 years’ experience in the leisure and attractions industry. The owner of theming company Art & Design and show producer Dice Productions, he has worked with operators including Disney, Six Flags, Ocean Park, Futuroscope, Walibi and Aqualand, which will soon become one of his competitors. “He knows what he’s doing,” confirms Polin marketing director Sohret Pakis.

Chima Waterpark Here’s a glimpse of what the new Lego Legends of Chima Water Park will look like when it opens this coming summer at Legoland California Resort. Depicted in this rendering is the Lion Temple Wave Pool. Designed for families with young children, its themed is inspired by Lego’s latest toy line, where animal tribes battle in a mystical land for control of the precious energy source called “CHI”. Additional areas in the new waterpark, which will be complementary to the resort’s existing Legoland Water Park, will include Cragger’s Swamp, a hands-on water play area inviting guests to ride water slides, blast water cannons and zoom through the head of a massive crocodile. There’s also the interactive play experience Build-A-Boat, where children learn how to change the currents, build and dodge obstacles as well as race their friends in boats.
