lenges each year is figuring out just the right mix between plain and pepperoni piz- zas, especially when a lot of people don’t eat meat during Lent...).
All proceeds from the show will go to the
NRHS Railway Heritage Grants program. The program has given over a half million dollars to various rail preservation projects around the country (both within and outside NRHS) and is funded entirely from dona- tions from NRHS members and others — the pizza party proceeds add to the amount than can be granted. The program’s admin- istrative costs are covered by NRHS opera- tions, so all money donated goes to proj- ects — there is no overhead taken out of donations or from fund raisers such as the pizza party. We already have a handful of shows lined up for Friday night, so if you want to do a show please contact me soon. And a big thank you to Vic Neves, Evan Werkema and the Winterail roadies for all their support for the Friday night program. —S.B.
Speaking of Winterail Yes, it’s that time to start planning for the Granddaddy of ’em all, Winterail in Stock- ton, Calif. It’s a great time to meet up with old friends, make new friends, buy a lot of stuff you don’t need and see some of the finest rail photography west of Denver (and occasionally east of Denver and overseas). Online ticketing is available for the event at
www.winterail.com.
I’ll be heading out a few days in ad- vance — after all, California is like railroad heaven. I hope to see a lot of you out in the Golden State on March 7 and 8! — S.B.
