BNSF Railway Leases New GE and Old EMD Power

BNSF IS LEASING 55 NEW ES44AC’S from Citirail. On December 21, 2013, CREX Nos. 1336 and 1334 led an eastbound manifest out of Pasco at Ramsey, Wash., located between Spokane and Sandpoint, Idaho, where the train will be handed off to Montana Rail Line. BNSF

Mount Bachelor and Mount Jefferson, they join three older Talgo consists owned by the Washington Department of Transportation and two sets owned by Amtrak which run be- tween Eugene, Ore., and Vancouver, British Columbia, on the Amtrak Cascades route. Each new trainset seats 286 passengers who can enjoy wifi service and seatside electrical outlets; bicycles are carried in the baggage section. The new trains were built at the con- troversial Talgo, Inc., plant in Milwaukee, Wis., which also assembled a pair of trains for the Wisconsin DOT. The Wisconsin trains have not turned a wheel since Governor Scott Walker refused to accept them and started a legal tangle with the builder by canceling the contract. Wisconsin’s actions delayed the scheduled autumn 2012 acceptance of the Oregon trainsets.

Sound Tran- sit’s Tacoma Dome station is currently located in the former Milwaukee Road freighthouse building. WDOT had proposed to replace 150 feet of the old, wooden structure with a mod- ern, steel building in order to accommodate

FIVE EX-BNSF RAILWAY “TRI-CLOPS” SD60M’S leased from Progress Rail began running on Genesee & Wyoming’s Buffalo & Pittsburgh in January 2014.
