TSCRA Members Have Insurance Questions

M

EMBERS OF TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN CATTLE RAISERS Association have been calling and writing with

questions since the October attempt at launching the Affordable Care Act and healthcare.gov. Q: This new health care law is burning up the news

channels. Have you heard anything from Blue Cross and Blue Shield about what the future holds? My wife has about 10 more years on the TSCRA plan before reaching Medicare age. TSCRA: Our Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) of

Texas TSCRA association plan will remain in place until further notice. Our plan renews in June of 2014. BCBS of Texas will inform us should there be any changes prior to our renewal date. Since the renewal is not until June of next year, we do not foresee any updated information before the end of this year. We certainly will keep everyone updated should there be any changes to our association plan. Q: I received a letter from TSCRA the other day

talking about how the association is setting up an exchange. How does that work? Would we be better served participating in the exchange? TSCRA: The TSCRA Private Exchange is in the fi -

nal stages as stated in the most recent letter you have received from TSCRA Insurance Services. As soon as we have the TSCRA Exchange up and running, we will notify TSCRA members. We foresee the TSCRA Exchange to be available in the next few weeks. This will allow TSCRA Insurance Services to provide addi- tional medical plan offerings for those members who are not enrolled in our association medical plans. At that time, we can certainly look at your options which will include higher deductible choices and a variety of plan designs. Our current TSCRA medical association plans will

remain in place. Should there be any changes or up- dates on the current plan offerings, you will be notifi ed. There is not a need to make any immediate changes to your medical plan at this time, but we can certainly explore other options when the TSCRA Exchange is released.
