Complete Heat Treating LLC,
Milwaukee, has completed its ac- quisition of all assets of the former Wisconsin Steel Industries Inc., purchased in 2011. Equipment from both companies has been consoli- dated at the 65,000-sq.-ft. Complete facility. Services now offered include
five car bottom furnaces, five box furnaces, polymer and water quench tanks, stress relieving, sand blasting, prime and finish painting, anneal- ing, normalizing, BHN inspection, straightening, test specimen saw cutting, a tractor/trailer fleet and compliance with ISO 9001. Work- pieces up to 50 tons are routinely processed using existing and recently installed crane equipment.
Radford went through a series of acquisitions before becoming a Grede company.
Grede, Southfield, Mich., has announced plans to idle its met- alcasting facility in Radford, Va., at the end of the year and lay off 250 workers. The plant has had three different owners since 2008. Grede acquired it in March 2012. According to Grede spokes-
man Richard Pacini, some of the metalcasting facility’s 28 salaried employees will be able to apply for jobs at other company facilities, but 234 hourly workers likely won’t have that opportunity. He attributed the decision to idle to the economy. A furnace fire in May 2012 also reportedly was a factor. T e company also has shut down its Omaha, Neb., facility, formerly part of the Paxton-Mitchell Co. T e shutdown aff ected 54 employees and the assets were sold at auction in late October. Paxton-Mitchell continues to operate its specialty products division in Blair, Neb.
