CWM Introduces Diecasting Design App

(CWM), Bensenville, Ill., developed a free app for OEM engineers working on a design for die casting. Created by CWM engineer Max
Gondek and systems technician Will Ewing, “DC_Calc” converts measure- ments into tolerances based on feature size, tool design and alloy. Conversions are based on North American Die Cast- ing Association (NADCA) standards. T e calculator provides tolerances for linear dimensions, parting lines, moving die components, angularity, concentric- ity, parting line shift and fl atness.
ACM to Overhaul Warrenton Plant
Asama Coldwater Manufactur-
ing Inc. (ACM), Coldwater, Mich., plans to upgrade its facility in Warren- ton, Ga., recently acquired from the former Wheland Foundry. T e Augusta Chronicle reported the company is investing millions of dollars in the 135,000-sq.-ft. plant to expand its automotive brake drum manufacturing capabilities. Among the updates are a molding machine rebuild as well as installation of a new molding machine. T e upgrade is expected to create about 20 additional jobs. ACM provides casting, machining and subassembly of automotive brake components and assemblies using its ISO 9001 registered quality systems.
