Senator blasts ACA, pledges continued Cruzade
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is an economic disaster and is costing America jobs, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told physicians at the Texas Medical Association 2013 Fall Conference Oct. 19. “We’re seeing jobs dry up,” he said during a speech at the conference’s General Session.
The senator said the law is forcing businesses to drop expansion plans and cut
workers’ hours because of mandates to provide health insurance for full-time em- ployees and causing many Americans to lose their health care coverage. “When you put a massive disincentive on small businesses to grow, what results is what we’ve seen in the last four years. In the last four years, economic growth in the United States has averaged 0.9 percent.”
1. Allow the interstate purchase of health insurance “to create a true, 50-state, national marketplace” free from the various states’ coverage mandates.
