WELCOME
Welcome to EIBTM 2013 Join us in celebrating our 10th year in Barcelona
Welcome to EIBTM 2013. We are delighted that you have attended the show this year to join us in celebrating our 10th year in one of Europe’s most exciting cities, Barcelona.
We have an absolutely fantastic show ahead of us, full of fresh innovations, thought-provoking education and an impressive line up of networking events to enjoy – not to mention business, business and more business!
EIBTM 2013 kicked off Monday with The EIBTM Forum (open to all) where James Woudhuysen, Professor of Forecasting and Innovation at De Montfort University, Leicester headlined with his keynote session. James’ session was incredibly insightful and we hope it left you all feeling inspired and motivated to do business as we open the show for 2013.
One of the key changes we have made to the show this year is integrating a brand new event layout and design, which will further improve the customer experience for Visitors and Exhibitors. The new layout has been designed to make it easier for Hosted Buyers and Visitors to navigate around the hall with some exciting new features.
You will also notice some big changes as you enter EIBTM this year, with a newly designed Welcome Piazza, which will give you time and space to plan before you hit the show floor. The ‘Ask Me Crew’ will also be on hand to help with any questions you may have.
We have also introduced two new themed restaurant and meeting points on the show floor. The Cava and Seafood Piazza and the Tapas Piazza have been added at either end of the central aisle to provide improved meeting and dining opportunities along with several other feature areas that will intrigue and attract Visitors around the halls – these smaller features include The Sustainability Genius Zone, The Hologram Genius Zone and The Event Genius Zone. We’d love to hear your feedback on our new show layout and features, so why not tweet us @EIBTMevent using #EIBTM13
Another new feature…The Innovation Zone (formerly known as the Future Events Experience) will offer a “laboratory of ideas” and an interactive showroom, where you can discover and experience the latest innovations in the design and content side of meetings. We have partnered with some exciting new technology providers and we are very much looking forward to showcasing some of the latest innovations in the Meetings Industry.
On behalf of the team at Reed Travel Exhibitions, we hope that you have a very enjoyable and successful show.

It’s been a very busy year for IBTM Global Events and we are delighted to have added two new events to our portfolio.
September 2013 saw the launch of IBTM India, our new table- top event which saw over 80 Hosted Buyers and 72 exhibitors conducting some 2,496
appointments. The event, which took place at the Grand
Hyatt in Mumbai gained fantastic feedback from those who participated, securing on average 34 appointments per Exhibitor attending. Hosted Buyers representing 16 countries and 8 key cities in India attended. Suppliers present represented 22 countries with 29 coming from around India.
We are also well on our way with preparations for the launch of IBTM Africa which will take place as part of Africa Travel Week in April 2014 in Cape Town International Conference Centre (CTICC).
IBTM Africa will be similar to IBTM India, following a 2.5 day invitation only format for Exhibitors to meet with buyers one to one. The event will bring international decision makers with inbound business into Africa to meet African and Indian Ocean suppliers.
We are also very much looking forward to the 4th edition of AIBTM in 2014. The event will take place from June 10-12 in Orlando Orange County Convention Centre, Orlando. The decision to rotate the show between Chicago and Orlando was based on valuable feedback we received from our stakeholders and the move will ensure AIBTM continues to offer attendees access to increased new business opportunities, which are available in two of the key US meetings hubs.
With events on every continent, in total, the IBTM events provide access to 5,000 suppliers representing 173 countries, 18,000 meeting planners and over 100,000 pre-scheduled appointments are generated ensuring that the IBTM events truly provide return on investment.
