The Alltrade Tradeshow 2013 saw a record number of exhibitors, and close to 200 visitors, including retailers looking to capitalise on added value installation services across TV aerials, satellite, multi-room audio and custom installation
A
nother very successful event,” says Steve Simper. The managing director of distributor Alltrade is
describing the Alltrade Tradeshow 2013, held at Gatwick’s Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex on October 17. “New high profile exhibitors like Linsar
joined regular exhibitors such as Humax, Triax and Sonos, and the feedback has been very positive indeed.” The event attracted 35 exhibitors,
many showing multiple product brands, representing a 15% increase on 2012. And despite industrial action at schools in the area keeping some potential visitors grounded, the show registered almost 200 visitors, including retailers, aerial installation companies and custom installers. TRIAX was once again the main sponsor,
and promoted its HDBaseT products, along with the new range of SAT>IP, which converts SAT-IF signals to IPTV. Other exhibitors included Antiference,
B-Tech, Blake UK, BluCube, Cablecon, CYP, Delta, EchoStar, Fracarro, Global Cache, Global Invacom, Goodmans, Hoody, Humax, Johansson, Linsar, Sanus, Sonos, Swires, Televes, TV Shield, Vision, Videotree and Webro. Some of the new exhibitors were Eutelsat,
Eyestones, Xantech and IC Realtime, which demonstrated its portfolio of commercial grade CCTV and IPCCTV systems, while Fracarro offered a wide range of ‘Intelligent technology, for intelligent buildings’ (newly available from Alltrade, that has recently signed a distribution agreement with the premium Italian manufacturer) .
What’s new? “The number of CI products on display was up markedly at this year’s Tradeshow,” commented Steve. “The reduction in price point of high quality custom installation components has seen a lot of aerial installers and retailers move into this area, and we’re ideally placed to service these customers. “With the introduction of the Linsar TV
range, which is only sold through independent channels, Alltrade can now offer a complete portfolio of products and solutions for those companies wishing to enter or expand their custom installation services.”
Linsar made its Alltrade show debut to exhibit its latest range of flat screen smart TVs. The LCD panels in 22-50in screen sizes are LED-illuminated and feature Freeview

HD alongside connected-TV apps such as BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix and Skype compatibility. The brand’s 2014 line-up includes smart TVs with ultra-thin bezels and extremely low power consumption. Global Invacom used the event to showcase
its tvLINK IP system. This solution distributes Freeview channels by linking a standard aerial feed via a converter to any suitable wireless IP router. TV channels can then be watched on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones around the home without affecting internet data usage. AV distribution pioneer CYP took a large stand and demonstrated its PU-44XL-KIT, as part of its ever-expanding line-up. This is a new HDMI HDBaseT LITE 4x4 Matrix kit, which can be partnered with PU-514L-RX receivers. The kit enables up to four independent HDMI sources to be distributed to four zones via standard IP network cable (Cat5e/6/7) at resolutions of up to 1080p. Another new exhibitor, Global Caché,
showed off its iTach Flex. This small multifunctional end-point device with infrared emitter allows simple connection of a range of devices, from mechanical switches to IR controls, to a wireless or wired network. The linked devices can then be monitored or controlled remotely using a web-based interface, including smartphones and tablets. Visitors were able to see the Hoody speaker- hood range first hand. These products are designed to offer a simple way to protect ceiling or wall cavities when recessed speakers have been fitted. This ensures that a building’s fire-safety integrity remains intact after in- ceiling speaker installation, and prevents a significant amount of backwards sound leakage into rooms above the speakers. Sonos was taking orders on the newly revealed
PLAY 1 and introducing new style adverts which will be shown on TV with a £3m budget in the run-up to Christmas. Until December 31, the PLAY1, 3 and 5 are being offered with a free bridge to get a network started. Johansson, one of the many specialist IRS companies in attendance, continued to promote the revolutionary ‘SCR’ (single cable router) multiswitch which allows old style single cabled buildings the benefit of being able to ‘stack’ IF signals so PVR’s can be used by residents without the need for getting 2 cables to their flat - which can prove impossible in some cases!
Regular exhibitor Sanus launched its
Skeleton Rack at the Alltrade Show. Its open structure enables simple access for installing and servicing AV kit. It has removable shelves, blanking panels and accessories to stop small equipment sliding, as well as hinges to rotate the entire rack to reach rear cable connections with ease. Other products of note at the show included BluCube’s new rectangular flat speaker, for in wall or in ceiling applications, with a two piece baffle design to reduce harmonic distortion - and TV Shield, a tough IP-protected solution for installing TVs up to 60in outdoors!
