luke has introduced the high-end Fluke® VT04 Visual Infrared Thermometer, a troubleshooting tool with an infrared heat map which offers higher resolution as well as temperature alarms and time- lapse features. Fluke Visual IR Thermometers fill the gap for when a single-spot temperature reading is not enough and a high-resolution thermal image is more than users need: the one tool combines the visual insight of a thermal imager, the visual images of a digital camera, and the point-and-shoot convenience of an IR thermometer. Compared to the VT02, the Fluke VT04 offers a wider 28°x28° field of view for improved scanning and up-close evaluation and four times sharper images. It also features a Hi/Lo temperature alarm which enables hot spots to be found in seconds, and time-lapse functionality which automatically monitors equipment over time or automatically captures images after an alarm has been triggered. Images are saved to a micro-SD card, eliminating the need to write down single or multiple measurements: analysis and reporting software is included.

SAB's Coreweld 46 LS metal cored welding wire is designed for high speed thin plate welding to a minimum thickness of
1.0 mm. It will out perform solid MAG welding wire in terms of both the quality of weld produced and productivity. Coreweld 46 LS can ensure major reductions in welding costs with both mechanised and robotic welding and fabrication processes. Coreweld 46 LS also performs excellently in the manual welding of thicker plates.
The wide operating parameter box is a positive advantage for welders making it
easy for them to control the welding arc and produce welds with perfect profiles. Safe and spatter free re-striking also make life easier for the manual welder. Most thin plate applications welded with solid wire are in the short arc or globular arc transfer mode employing moderate travel speeds since using high travel speeds in spray arc mode can result in a deterioration of weld quality.
However, with
Coreweld 46 LS, the stable, spray arc transfer can result in high travel speeds of 150-200 cm/min. on fillet or overlap welds as well as both curved and circumferential welds.

Fulton celebrates £3.5m facility opening H

eat transfer specialist Fulton celebrated its move to a new £3.5 million, 43,000 sq. ft. Bristol-based headquarters recently and was joined by over 60 customers, suppliers and dignitaries, including US-based owners Ronald and Bram Palm and Honorary President of the Combustion Engineers Association (CEA) – and lover of all things steam – Pete Waterman. In his speech, Pete Waterman welcomed Fulton’s decision to bring the manufacturing of its larger boiler pressure vessels for UK and Export markets from Fulton’s facility in China to Bristol, at a time when many manufacturers are doing the opposite. Despite the many local, national and international obstacles Fulton faced, he also praised the company for maintaining its presence in Bristol and protecting the jobs of local people. Guests were given guided-tours of Fulton’s new facility and a demonstration of its state-of-the-art plasma cutter and, following speeches from Bram Palm and Pete Waterman, the company was presented with a commemorative plaque from the CEA.

submersibles, Drill ships and FPSO vessels. Their product range incorporates both air and hydraulically powered hoists, with individual lifting capacities ranging from 250kg to 100 tonnes. These products can also be incorporated into single or double girder overhead travelling cranes, underslung cranes with special low headroom trolley designs, together with purpose designed slewing jib cranes. Hoists can be supplied for specific function duties such as BOP handling (up to 200 tonnes), as well as providing virtually unlimited lifting and general load movement solutions including both oblique and horizontal pulling under pre-determined conditions. A BOP handling unit incorporating four J D Neuhaus type EH50 air operated monorail hoists has been supplied to the Maersk offshore rig Guardian, for synchronised BOP lifting and handling during both pre and post drilling operations. Two hoists are mounted on each of the twin parallel overhead rails, with each hoist providing 50 tonne load and 20 metre lift capacities for between deck operations.
