noticeboard ? EAT HER WORDS

My work colleague won’t shut up about her latest diet or gym-going experience, to the point that it’s getting boring to spend any time with her. I used to enjoy her company and we often have lunch together. I’d like to keep up the friendship, but how do I change the subject? Cass, London

We’ve all been there. There’s nothing worse than sitting through someone rattle on about the latest juice cleanse or extreme workout fad. When it’s a good friend, it can be even harder to bear. Your best bet is to steer the conversation away from more grating subjects, while hoping for the best.

SALES

I’ve started a little side business making crafts that I’ve been selling online. I work in a big call centre and I was thinking of selling my wares to my co-workers. Do you think I’d be able to? Janey

, Stockton-on-T ees It depends on your policy at work, so the first

thing to do is speak to your boss and get their permission first. Reading up about “selling crap at work”, as one forum puts it, fellow workers are rarely very happy about it. So it’s worth bearing in mind how successful such a venture will be if it gets on everybody’s nerves. But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
