A UK-based designer and manufacturer of handling, grading and sorting solutions has launched a new range of specialist warehouse equipment. Tong Peal’s energy-efficient range of elevators and conveying systems are said to provide a complete handling solution – perfect for minimising manual processes at warehouses and packhouses. From conventional conveyors to bespoke handling lines, the range can be specified in standard sizes or customised to meet exact handling needs. Lincolnshire-based J&A International has
recently invested in a specialist distribution conveyor from Tong Peal’s new warehouse range. Based in Spilsby, the production

says: “As our business has expanded, we’ve found ourselves needing to manufacture higher volumes of clothing
products for clients internationally. Although most of our stock is manufac- tured, packed and distributed straight from the manufacturing line, we also stockpile high volumes of our most popular lines, which are stored on a mezzanine floor above the main factory. As these boxes
Conveyor brake with special safety feature
Twiflex has launched a new mod- ular disc brake to complement its existing range of conveyor brakes. The VBS is a ‘fail safe’, spring applied, hydraulically retracted disc brake calliper which consists of two modules mounted either side of a central mounting plate. Intended for use on high speed
drives on downhill conveyors the brake uses large pads for high ther- mal capacity and is fully sealed against moisture and dirt ingress. Steve Powell, product manager
for Twiflex, says: “The brake is installed between the motor and gearbox to protect the motor against overspeed conditions when there is a mechanical fail-

Goplasticpallets.com’s new Cabka-IPS range – the 1,200mm x 1,000mm full perimeter, medium duty CPP 875 PO plastic pallet is said to make exporting goods internationally simpler. What is said to make the CPP 875 PO
the ultimate export tool is its racking ability. Unlike nestable export pallets which cannot be racked, the CPP 875 PO comes on five runners as standard and can hold up to 600kg in high rack- ing systems, which means goods can be packed, racked, stored and shipped on one single pallet.

ure in the drive. The VBS is easy to install and is fully interchange- able with most brakes on the market which makes swap-over extremely quick. The added bene- fit to the VBS over other brakes is the ‘Parked Off’ feature which makes maintenance work safer.
In ‘Parked Off’ the disc spring
load and hydraulic pressure in the Twiflex design are zero, meaning the VBS has no stored energy and therefore safe for maintenance/pad removal. The position can quickly be achieved in the field with basic tools making the brake safe without reliance on mechanical lock out. Powell says: “We try to con-
sider real world problems faced by engineers in the field when designing our latest products. I believe that the ‘Parked Off’ fea- ture represents a real and unique step forward in personnel safety.” Twiflex

two-way conveying system which automatically transports sealed boxes from factory to our storage area, eliminat- ing the need for any manual processes. “The conveying system has allowed us
to lower costs and improve efficiencies, as well as store our popular stock for immediate on-demand distribution.” Tong Peal Engineering T: 01790 752771

Energy chain expert igus UK’s pikchain is a continually revolv- ing chain with integrated cable and hose supply to drive and control actuators individually. In the woodworking industry
pikchain is advantageous, enabling concurrent running tasks such as drilling, stacking, milling, de-stacking, coating, drying and sorting to be carried out faster, enabling engineers to increase output by up to 30 per cent. pikchain is said to be more
efficient than conventional han- dling and conveyor applications because of its continuous circular motion. pikchain is vibration- free and can move smoothly at a

continuous speed of between two and three m/s. Maintenance-free travel of up to 30m can also be achieved with the maximum load per transport chain link being approximately 5kg. Each link can be controlled individually. In addition, pikchain can be
equipped with any type of tool that receives its respective sig- nals to operate accordingly, for instance grippers, suction cups, sensors, depending on the cus- tomers’ requirements. Watch video of pikchain at

series with models available for pay- load ratings of 125, 250, 500 and 980kg. These are aluminium bodied units which provide optional lift heights of three, five, and eight metres with a six bar air supply. These hoists are also equipped with a single top suspension hook, which can be used with an optional trolley mounting providing overhead rail suspension to accommo- date manual powered traverse movements of suspended loads. A manipulator unit is also available in this Mini range, which provides both safe and efficient single handed operation of lift, lower, traverse and load positioning operations. Where more rugged, steel-bodied
hoists are required, the JDN Profi TI series incorporates four models in a lower-load range rated at 250, 500 and 1000kg plus a 2-tonne lift capacity unit. These models also provide single suspension hook mounting with three optional trolley mounts available to provide manual, reel chain on motorised traverse movements. These products are supplied
as standard with three- metre lift heights, operating from optional
four or six bar air supplies. JD Neuhaus
