Bluebell broadcasts success B

luebell Opticom is a highly successful company that designs, manufactures and distributes customised fibre optic transmission

solution for portable valve operation

plants, mining and chemical processing facilities across Australia, complimenting the needs of an increasingly diverse workforce. A number of EasiDrive units have been supplied to the Gorgon Project off the northwest coast of Western Australia. The Gorgon Project is developing the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields, including the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to supply 300 terajoules of gas per day to Western Australia. Gorgon valves have hundreds of turns, some even up to1000, and temperatures in these environments can exceed 45°C. Manually operating valves in such conditions can result in occupational health & safety concerns for workers but SFC’s EasiDrive system protects personnel by preventing injury and operator fatigue as movement is fully controlled by the EasiDrive tool. Regardless of operator strength, EasiDrive is effective on valves requiring a high number of turns or are otherwise difficult to operate because of high torque or where diverse weather environments make operations more challenging.

assemblies for the broadcast, satellite and telecommunications industry. The company relies on PSL DataTrack production management software for its production administration procedures. This underlines the versatility of the DataTrack system which is used largely in the engineering sub-contract sector, but is wholly transferable into the electronics and other industries. Working in a niche market, Bluebell's product range consists of four platforms and a range of over fifty configurable PCB card based electrical to optical converters. The company's production model is based on making assemblies for stock and then customising them to meet specific orders. This ability to customise has meant that its business administration and production management procedures are complex. For many years the company relied on a manual administration system that included the use of spreadsheets to check and track bills of materials, quotations, stock, work in progress, deliveries and invoicing – in fact the entire production management process.

ot-galvanising company, Helling & Neuhaus, in conjunction with Terex Material Handling and with input from the industrial employers’ mutual

insurance association, has developed a solution which allows operators to work beneath suspended loads. The lift and lower sections of the two

Helling & Neuhaus conveyor lines have each been equipped with two Demag double chain hoists, which are connected by means of a tandem control system. According to the manufacturer, this concept, which satisfies the requirements of BGV D8 Plus hoists, is an innovative solution, which provides maximum safety for a wide range of industrial applications. In many production facilities, including galvanising plants, it is necessary for operators to work beneath suspended loads, which are held by chain hoists. Applications such as these are subject to special safety requirements, which are laid down in the BGV D8 safety regulations. Helling & Neuhaus GmbH, part of the Seppeler Group, operates two parallel production circuits at its plant in Gütersloh, Germany. The lifting motions at each of the pick-up and deposit stations were previously provided by chain hoists fitted with a catch. This arrangement had met the customer’s requirements, but safety issues dictated the development of an alternative solution.

extended the range to include a new, European manufactured range of KHK branded high precision racks and pinions. Available with straight or helical teeth, these new KHK products are available in a choice of sizes and qualities to suit a variety of rotary-to-linear and linear-to-rotary motion requirements These precision gears are available in 500, 1000 and 1500 mm lengths, with metric tooth pitches from modules 0.79 to 12 and with soft, case-hardened or induction-hardened and ground racks. Teeth are finished by hobbing or grinding and in square or rectangular section. Special profiles are also available as a standard option. In addition to providing KHK rack and pinion gear sets, R. A. Rodriguez and its distributors are able to supply complete drive solutions with zero backlash gearboxes.

VC (a Quirepace company) has installed a centralised vacuum cleaning system for a worldwide multinational company, processing wheat based

products. Pipework has been installed throughout a multi floor facility, having 16 hose connection points connected to a central vacuum plant on the ground floor. A large amount of material can be recycled/reprocessed, it was paramount that this was incorporated; therefore a flatbed screen was used, with the two sizes of materials being collected within FIBC below. The plant serves an ATEX Zone 22 classified area. Equipment was designed and constructed to meet this. As the materials being extracted are potentially explosive and due to site restraints a traditional explosion vent panel/vent duct could not be used therefore an indoor explosion protection unit was used where the fire of an explosion will be quenched and hot gases and pressure generated by an explosion will be safely vented into the production area. The rotary discharge valve on the outlet of the separator is certified Zone 20 internally and provides and autonomous flame path barrier. The operators are provided with ATEX Zone 22 certified operating hoses and tools, these can be stored on wall mounting racks.

ransdek UK, the loading and lifting equipment innovator, has secured ISO 9001 accreditation for

a second consecutive year, providing customers with independent verification of the company’s quality management standards. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organisation supplies, and prescribes a systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. Maintaining the ISO 9001 accreditation illustrates that Transdek operate to these quality management standards and includes processes for continual improvement. The audit at Transdek was conducted by ISOQAR, part of the Alcumus Group, which was established in 1991 as one of the first independent certification bodies in the UK.
