As always, please let me know if there is anything you’d like to share with us: we look forward to receiving any news, views or suggestions for future features from you.
As you might have noticed already, for each issue of Commercial Micro Manufacturing magazine we focus on a different country or region important for micro, high-precision and MEMS manufacturing. This early autumn issue is no different, and the country of choice this time is the United States.
I’m very pleased to be featuring an article from Andrew ‘Andy’ Oliver from the University of Michigan in this issue. In his feature written for CMM magazine he describes the important, though sometimes difficult relationship between universities and industry.
Our New and Emerging Technologies section focuses on 3D printing of micro devices, a process with a great future thanks to its relatively low costs and a wide range of micro devices that can be produced this way.
Interchangeable modules modify form, function and performance
As usual, our Micro Machining section is full of really interesting content. I thoroughly recommend that you turn to page 18 to read the article written for us by Dr Jan Müller of ELEKTROFORM, entitled Nickel Electroforming of Microscopic Structures. Another highlight of this section is an article written by a familiar face in the industry, Eduard Fassbind, the MD of Swisstec Micromachining, based in Switzerland. The expertise that the company has in the micro industry definitely makes this feature worthy of your attention.
