Break Time

Secret life of a business manager

YORK SECONDARY RAISES £20K IN A WEEK FOR MINIBUS

Staff and pupils at Fulford School in York went on a fundraising binge this summer – raising £20,000 in a week for a new mini bus by the end of last term. Sue Keeble, the school business

manager, organised a week of fundraising activities in the school, including cake stalls, a tuck shop, raffle and ‘gunge the teacher’ competition, culminating in a sponsored walk. “The school’s PTA has £7,000 in the minibus fund already and, with its continued support, we hope to reach our target of £20,000 by the end of the week,” Keeble told The Press at the time. Of the cake stall, she said: “It was a fabulous success; I can’t believe how many staff baked over the weekend.”

NUMBER CRUNCHING

Everyone deserves a five-minute break, and business managers are no exception. So pour yourself a coffee, get a biscuit from the tin and have a go at this little puzzle. It is sure to keep your little grey cells ticking over and help while away your break time.
