Newscast Chassix has announced its move to
a new global headquarters in Southfi eld, Mich. T e 22,000-sq.-ft. site brings 150 employees from the former Wixom, Mich., and Troy, Mich., offi ces. T e company operated out of two locations as SMW Automotive LLC and Diversi- fi ed Machine Inc., before its integration earlier this year. Chassix off ers design and engineering capabilities in the U.S., Mexico, South America, Europe and China, with more than 3,700 employees.
Hoosier Pattern Inc., Decatur, Ind.,
has acquired an S-Max 3D Sand Printer made by ExOne. T e printer selectively dispenses microdroplets of foundry- grade resin onto a 0.011-in.-thick layer of engineered sand to build sand casting cores and molds directly from CAD data. T e S-Max by ExOne has a build envelope of 70.9 x 39.37 x 26.56 in. T e additive manufacturing process adds to Hoosier Pattern’s rapid prototyping capabilities and product size.
Alcoa, New York, will close or
curtail 164,000 metric tons of smelt- ing capacity in the U.S. and Brazil by the end of September. It will have 16% or 646,800 metric tons of smelting capacity idle. Alcoa produces primary and fabricated aluminum, and it is a bauxite miner and alumina refi ner. It markets fl at-rolled products, hard alloy extrusions and forgings as well as Al- coa wheels, fastening systems, invest- ment castings and building systems. It employs approximately 61,000 people in 30 countries.
