Launches New RegOnline® Solution
ACTIVE Network™ has unveiled a new version of ACTIVE RegOnline®, the Company’s entry-level online event- management solution. Developed with feedback from planners of all levels of experience in mind, the new ACTIVE RegOnline makes it easy for event planners from small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and associations, to plan, promote, and manage events of all sizes.
“ACTIVE RegOnline is our next-generation tool designed to help event planners in small and medium-sized businesses do their job easier and grow their events and revenue,” said Anthony Miller, vice president of ACTIVE Network’s Business Solutions Group. “The new software streamlines many of the most complex stages of event planning into a single technology platform, which we believe will remove much of the stress and manual labor involved in the process. The user interface of the new ACTIVE RegOnline has a crisp, clean layout that makes it simple to access the right tools for various stages of event planning—from finding a venue, to promoting the event, to managing attendee registrations and real-time engagement via the free mobile app. An infographic-based dashboard allows planners to view key event metrics in one place, such as number of attendees registered, demographics, and the amount of revenue generated.

London Hosts International Medical Meetings Experts
The Professional Convention Management Association united CEOs and executive meeting professionals from the healthcare industry in London for the inaugural PCMA Global Medical Meetings Summit. With 35 participants from eight countries, the three- day senior-level discussion addressed the key trends and issues that will shape the future of medical meetings and associations.
“Medical meeting organizers in North America and Europe are navigating uncharted territory,” said PCMA President & CEO Deborah Sexton. “As leaders from both continents work to understand how compliance codes and restrictions will impact their attendees and members, the Global Medical Meetings Summit helped facilitate an international idea exchange.”
Many of those ideas focused on how the evolution of technology will shape and impact how their attendees learn. In addition to a keynote address from Magnus Lindkvist, trendspotter and futurist, and a keynote workshop led by Frank Schuurman, Ph.D., the programming featured product tutorials from leading technology organizations that provided a glimpse of new possibilities for engaging remote audiences.
“More medical meeting attendees are engaging via virtual platforms,” Sexton says. “In order to ensure success in the future, medical meeting planners must recognize how to help remote audience members be part of the face-to-face event, too.”

Tourism Vancouver’s Energy Specialist Program Embraced by Industry
Tourism Vancouver is delighted to celebrate the successful first year of the Tourism Energy Specialist Program. Since commencing in May 2012, the program has produced 415,000 kilowatt hours of energy savings in Vancouver’s tourism industry and BC Hydro has awarded $69,000 in corresponding grants for energy conservation retrofits.
Tourism Vancouver’s Tourism Energy Specialist Program is believed to be a worldwide first among destination marketing and management organizations. The program was made possible through sponsorship from BC Hydro with the mandate to guide Tourism Vancouver’s 1,000 member hotels, restaurants and attractions in energy efficiency and conservation initiatives.
In his first 12 months in the role, Gwendal Castellan, a trained energy specialist and thermographer, provided 24 energy assessments at Vancouver tourism businesses and identified 2.7 gigawatt hours of potential energy savings (the equivalent of powering 245 homes for a year).
The Burrard, a historic hotel in Vancouver’s downtown core, was one of the businesses to benefit from the program. “Tourism Vancouver helped us produce a comprehensive list of money-saving ideas that complemented and improved our sustainability mission and objectives,” said Dani Pretto, general manager.
“Tourism Vancouver is committed to supporting our ‘Spectacular by Nature’ brand by helping our member businesses identify and implement conservation efforts,” said Paul Vallee, Tourism Vancouver’s executive vice president. “By helping to build the capacity of the tourism industry to meet the goals set by the City of Vancouver’s Greenest City Plan, we are setting ourselves apart as a forward-thinking and world- leading sustainable destination.”
