slowly begun to turn from the written word to photos and videos. Take a look at our article, “Digital Casting Man- agement,” on p. 24 as it discusses how more facilities are using touch screens on the plant floor with visual instructions to ensure casting qual- ity. Industry suppliers are developing videos on best practices for a variety of production processes and tests. These concepts cater to how many adults learn by making it a visual process versus entirely written instructions. Tis past April, Modern Casting joined the


Modern Casting, Metal Casting Design & Pur- chasing and Global Casting, but in a format geared toward current and future generations. The site currently showcases videos with talking head experts, plant profiles, new produc- tion practices and industry news with new information coming every week. Our idea is that this por- tal, like all our digital prod- ucts (websites, digital maga- zines, social media and e-newsletters), is another source of information so you can choose how best to secure the latest and greatest in metalcasting. This month, we’ve included videos on process control and a modified cone jolt sand test (see pages 29 and 35). In August,


we posted a video about the proposed alternative to the methylene blue clay test and a peek inside Waupaca Foundry. As with Modern Casting,

MCTV is your portal, so it is open to video submis- sions from the industry. Like the print edition of the magazine, we review all submitted materials and then will post those videos that fit our editorial guidelines. Te key is that we must continue to push out best practices to help our metalcasting industry move forward.
