The NEC in Birmingham will certainly be a lively place on 25th-26th September as the venue will play host to the Machine Building Show, Sensors & Instrumentation 2013, Micro | Nano | Mems 2013, TCT Live and Mediplas. Automation magazine takes a closer look at what’s on offer

T

he Machine Building Show 2013 is free to attend and promises to be the start of an annual dedi- cated automation showcase. The event will bring together the entire industry for two days of product dis- plays, live demonstrations, network- ing and the chance to exchange ideas. The show, which is being organised by Datateam Business Media in partnership with Trident Exhibitions, is also being supported by media partners including machinebuilding.net and Industrial Technology Magazine and will be the national focus for motors, drive systems, power transmissions and energy man- agement; sensors, control equipment, software and industrial networking; PLCs, HMIs, displays and keyboards; hydraulics and pneumatics; switches, enclosures, cabinets; linear motion, bar- code readers, machine vision systems; fastening, joining and grippers; electrical and mechanical components; conveyor systems, bowls and feeder systems; legis- lation, regulations and standards; panel building, switchgear and electrical equipment; marking, coding and labelling; machine safety and light cur- tains; robots, pick and place systems and materials handling equipment. A conference and seminar pro- gramme is also being organised in order for visitors to get the most from their visit. One of these speakers, Steve Brambley, deputy director, GAMBICA, the Association for Instrumentation, Control, Automation & Laboratory Technology, said, “GAM- BICA as a trade association is con- stantly looking for ways to collaborate with communities that use automation technology. The Machine Building Show is a fantastic opportunity to meet with stakeholders who design, build and operate machines, and to understand their needs. The many

benefits of automation can be dis- cussed and new ways to bring value can be raised. As a speaker at the event, my goal is that participants will go away having learned something new that will be useful in their work.”

Sensors & Instrumentation Sensors & Instrumentation, a new, dedicated exhibition, conference and seminar programme, will be taking place in Hall 3.

The exhibition will showcase sen- sors, test and measurement equipment along with a variety of other types of instrumentation and will play host to a range of seminars aimed at profession- als from a variety of areas including automation, calibration, cases and enclosures, condition monitoring, con- trol systems, data acquisition, dis- plays, environmental analysis, flow and level, gas detection, inspection and measurement, instrumentation and thermal imaging.

Confirmed exhibitors include Dewetron, Infratec Infrared, Michell Instruments, Techni Measure, Optris, Rose Plastic, Kistler Instruments, National Instruments, Keller UK, PCB Piezotronics, Global Sensor Technology and FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology, along with many others. As well as an exhibitor list featuring a comprehensive collection of market leaders, the show will offer visitors the opportunity to enhance their profes- sional development with a wide rang- ing seminar programme and an array of innovative workshops.

The National Physics Laboratory is also endorsing the event, and Pete Moores, business development man- ager, NPL Training, commented, “The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is pleased to be exhibiting and presenting at Sensors & Instrumentation 2013. It is a great opportunity for us to meet and net- work with all the key players in this sector at one event.”
