Columbus native Ken Thomas was 2013 recipient of the Georgia Historical Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Known as the John Macpherson Berrien Award, it was cre- ated to recognize a lifetime of achievement in the field of history and contributions toward the Society’s mission to collect and teach Georgia and American history.


Whitewater opening, one of the other best things about these communities is, yes, there are tons of other events, occasions and special moments to write about. One of the sweetest moments I had the privi- lege of witnessing was the marriage of Lisa Bradfield Powers and Joe Morehead. Such a lovely, meaningful ceremony, beautifully officiated by First Presbyterian minister Chuck Hasty and shared with so many family members and friends, including Mary Casey and Isabelle Powers, Cindy and Spencer Garrard, Allison and Mike Owen and Hugh and Charlotte Kennedy.
