David Campese trains St Albans 1st XV before speaking at sports dinner F

ormer Australian Rugby World Cup Star David Campese recently gave St Albans School 1st XV a training session before they set off on their latest tour.

The winger/fullback was capped 101 times for his country and held the world record for the number of tries scored in a test match until 2006. Voted player of the tournament at the 1991 World Cup after scoring six tries, he became famous for his “goose-step” a hitch- kick motion that left opponents stumbling in his wake.

Chris Hudson, Director of Sport, says it was a real coup for the School to have such a legend of the game coach the first team: “There are few bigger names in Rugby Union than David Campese,” he says, “and it was an honour for us to have had him here to inspire the 1st XV and a privilege for the boys to be around such a professional sportsman.”

Wales and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser of Qatar, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, at Windsor Castle of 5th June. The Mosaic Primary School Programme, which was established by founder Mosaic Board member Asif Aziz, CEO of Criterion Capital, aims to raise the aspirations of young girls (aged 8-11) whilst also empowering their mothers to be better able to support their daughters in fulfilling their potential.

Qatar Foundation’s support will enable Mosaic to support 1200 young people and their mothers through the primary school programme, an increase of 50% compared to the current year, across 60 UK primary schools. Investment in mentor recruitment and management through this proposal will also

increase capacity across Mosaic’s programmes, realising further benefits and creating greater stability and sustainability.

Mosaic's National Director Jonathan Freeman commented, "This support from Qatar Foundation is a real vote of confidence in Mosaic's Primary School Programme. We are thrilled at the prospect of developing the programme over the coming years thanks to this generous support.”
