Winterhalter unveils prototype warewasher at LACA Conference
Visitors to the LACA Conference 2013 will get the chance to have a sneak preview of the latest warewashers for schools, due to be launched in September 2013. The passthrough machines are being developed by Winterhalter and will feature new technologies that save energy, water and chemicals. They will also be highly adaptable, so that whatever the local conditions in terms of water quality, hardness and pressure, the machines will be able to deliver the best possible hygienic wash results. A prototype of the warewasher, which will replace the popular GS500 Series, will be on display on the Winterhalter stand, K59. “This is an important launch for LACA because so many schools use passthrough machines,” says Paul Crowley, marketing manager of Winterhalter. “For most school situations, they deliver the ideal combination of capacity, performance and reliability. Our GS500 Series has won awards for energy efficiency and low running costs. The new machines build on that success to offer even better cost savings and wash results.”

Moffat’s new heated Grab and Go merchandisers keep hot food fresh
Moffat will show its latest Grab and Go merchandiser display cabinet for hot food at the LACA 2013 Conference, alongside its ever-popular Versicarte range of mobile servery units for school catering. “An increasing number of schools are buying Grab and Go units, in response to student demand for high-street type catering,” says Gary Allen, Sales Director of Moffat. Moffat has developed a special circulating air system that gently warms the product without making it soggy or dry out – so it stays hot and fresh for longer. “Where schools can score against the high street is in offering tasty, healthy food. These heated units help maintain food quality.” Meanwhile Moffat’s Versicarte range continues to be a best seller with schools. Stephen Price is Head of City Catering at Southampton City Council. “We have Versicartes in most of our 68 schools,” he says. “They are very manoeuvrable, so we can wheel them in and out and adjust the layout easily to suit the available space. Their build specification is excellent and they’re easy to clean. Plus, they look very smart, which helps sell school meals.”
