USA vs AUSTRALIA January 14 – 18


Under U.S. Head Coach Lee Bodimeade’s guidance, the Women’s National Team began 2012 with an optimistic finish against Australia in Chula Visa, Calif. The senior team competed in four close matches and ended the series with two ties and two near losses.

THREE NATIONS February 23 – March 2


The Women’s National Team gained momentum in a series against Spain, Belgium and Great Britain in Terrassa, Spain. Competing in a total of six matches, USA left Terrassa with two victories and one draw against Belgium. Team USA faced-off against Great Britain in one match and earned a victory while Spain proved to be fiercer competition during the series leaving USA with a loss and a draw.


USA vs AUSTRALIA April 5 – 8


In its second series of the year against then world- ranked No. 7 Australia, USA utilized tactical knowledge from the prior game and left Brisbane, Australia with two wins and a loss in a three game test series.

FOUR NATIONS April 12 – 22


Australia, New Zealand and India joined Team USA in Auckland, New Zealand in preparation for the Olympics at two Women’s Four Nations tournament. Out of the series of 16 matches, USA suited up for eight. Commencing the tournament, Australia beat the U.S. Women’s Squad 4-0 and came up short in another loss against the team with a score of 5 -1. New Zealand secured a win and a loss against the red, white and blue. Displaying growth, USA’s game strategy improved with each match against India – earning a loss, a draw and two wins.


USA vs CANADA May 19 – 23


In a four game series against Canada, the U.S. Women’s Team swept the pitch in Vancouver with strong attack and earned four wins.


WOMEN'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP June 1 – 8


Eighty-four top field hockey athletes in the country took the field at the Women’s National Championship in College Park, Md. for a week-long battle to be crowned Regional Champions but more importantly named to the National and Development Squads. A few weeks later Coach Bodimeade named the 2012 U.S. Women's Olympic Field Hockey roster from the pool of athletes.
