INDUSTR Y N EWS GIANTS IN SCREENING PROFILE Auckland Airport Chooses CEM Systems Security Solution

CEM Systems, part of Tyco Security Products has been awarded the contract to secure Auckland Airport. The industry-renowned CEM AC2000 security management system will be installed to ensure the highest level of security. ADT New Zealand has been selected as the integrator in the project and will install the AC2000 system at the airport’s domestic and international terminals. Australasia’s second busiest international airport, Auckland Airport is served by more than 20 international airlines. Auckland Airport has been voted as one of the 10 best airports in the

FISCAN

We are experiencing an age of ever-growing terrorism activities which threaten the lives of people all around the world. In this period of increasing security uncertainty, Beijing Zhongdun Anmin Analysis Technology Co., Ltd, branded as FISCAN, provides cutting-edge X-ray screening technology that helps every country safeguard the traveling public, protect buildings and the transportation systems.

Croma Security Solutions Develops FastVein© Technology

Croma Security Solutions (CSS) have developed a new Biometric access control system in conjunction with Hitachi the manufacturers and developers of Finger Vein technology. Unlike other biometric systems currently available, finger vein technology has overcome all the difficulties and obstacles previously encountered, such as cost, is user-friendly and easy to use, unobtrusive, extremely reliable, and fast. This new technology developed and patented by Hitachi is currently used by over 70% of the major financial institutions in Japan. Recently this technology has been introduced into the Polish banking System (BPS SA) and is now being rolled out over Western Europe and Turkey (IS Bank). CSS have invested over £1m in developing software behind this technology that enables many thousands of records stored against individuals to be searched and accurately matched in less than two seconds. As a result FastVein© has been rolled out in no less than 18 HM Prison and Immigration removal centres in the UK. In addition this technology was deployed by Dorset police as part of their Olympic security for the sailing events in Weymouth in 2012.

FISCAN is a high-tech company integrating R&D, manufacturing, engineering, training and services. Facing new developments and challenges for the security industry worldwide, FISCAN continuously upgrades its security products and gradually creates a series of comprehensive products, including X-ray machines with different tunnel sizes, both single-view and dual-view, as well as automatic explosive detection systems, container inspection systems, liquid detection equipment, body scanners, walkthrough detectors, and hand-held metal detectors. FISCAN systems have also acquired official approvals/certificates from TSA/FAA Test, CE, UL, Certificate of China National Torch Program, CAAC certificate and IATA Supplier qualification. Since the

world three years in a row, and is a major driver of the economy. Over 70 percent of visitors enter or leave New Zealand via Auckland Airport, which handles over 14 million passengers a year. The powerful CEM AC2000 system has

proven itself as one of the most reliable and resilient security solutions available. The system at Auckland Airport will utilise powerful AC2000 software modules including CEM’s AC2000 VIPPS (Visual Imaging and Pass Production System), which allows security personnel to produce passes and access rights for staff and visitors. The Airport will also use AC2000

AFL’s Fiber Security™ PIDS Evaluated by National Safe Skies Alliance AFL’s

first X-ray machine was installed in Beijing Capital International Airport in 1984, over 15,000 FISCAN X-ray security systems have been deployed in more than 30 countries and regions at airports, seaports, customs, railway stations, highway, governmental departments and many other security-related applications. Based on its own R&D, FISCAN possesses its own intellectual property rights which enable the company to provide a whole set of custom-designed products and security inspection solutions.

WEB Visitors which will enable system users to request and manage temporary cardholders (visitors) via a standard web browser. AC2000 T&A (Time and Attendance module) will also be installed, offering easy to read reports of employee In and Out times. The Airport will also use AC2000 Failover to create a system with a high level of redundancy. AC2000 Failover provides the ability to create and maintain a copy of the main AC2000 server. In the event that the main server fails, the AC2000 Failover server will immediately take over until such times as the main server is restored.

Fiber Security, a fibre optic perimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS), has been tested by the National Safe Skies Alliance (Safe Skies), an FAA-funded non-profit, independent organisation that specialises in airport safety and security testing.

Safe Skies subjected the Fiber Security system to an intensive all- season evaluation in an airport environment from December 2011 through October 2012. During this time, rigorous intrusion detection performance and environmental exposure testing was performed to assess the system’s detection reliability, as well as nuisance and false alarm rates. AFL’s Fiber Security perimeter intrusion detection system is a vibration sensing system that alerts users when an intrusion event occurs along a facility’s perimeter. AFL’s technology utilises a fence-mounted fibre optic sensing cable coupled with a central optical sensing unit. While the common application is to mount the sensor cable onto a chain link fence, buried and solid wall solutions are also available. The system pinpoints the location of the intrusion event and has robust algorithms for avoiding nuisance alarms that often plague other vibration-based detection systems.
