Leaders protest drones Christian and Jewish leaders told the Obama administration to stop using drones, declaring that “assassina- tion by remote control” violates reli- gious principles and just war theory. The president called for the use of drones to target those on active ter- rorism lists. Paul F.M. Zahl, retired Episcopal rector of All Saints Epis- copal Church in Chevy Chase, Md., told CNN that drones are “appalling”
from a New Testament viewpoint, and “about as un-Christian a maneu- ver as I can imagine.”

Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1000 Ft. Duquesne Boulevard on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. and will adjourn at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013. All plenary sessions will be held in Hall A.
The opening service of worship will be held in Hall C of the David L. Law- rence Convention Center on Mon- day, August 12, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.

Back to school A girl displaced from the Central African Republic is glad to be getting back to
school in Bélom camp, a site in southern Chad managed by the Lutheran World Federation. Housing about 17,000 people displaced by flooding means build- ing schools, as well as providing for such basics as food, shelter, hygiene and blankets.
