REHAU supplies bespoke trunking solution for healthcare contract
EHAU has combined its strength in the healthcare sector with its expertise in bespoke customer solutions in a contract for a leading furniture specialist. REHAU fabricated bespoke corner sections for the COMPACT data cable trunking system which it supplied for attaching direct to the framework of desking units installed in a London based consolidated laboratory company. The configuration of the desks meant that standard corner sections would have prevented the desks from fitting snugly into the corners of the offices and labs so REHAU designed a new bespoke corner section which overcame the problem. REHAU does not impose minimum order quantities for its bespoke trunking components and offers short lead times combined with a cost effective pricing structure.

elden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications,
has
introduced HiView in the EMEA region, a new tool that gives access to the graphical user interfaces (GUIs) of managed switches in its Hirschmann range, without the need for a web browser. This tool, which supports a variety of Windows and Linux operating systems, also serves as a client for the network management software Industrial HiVision. Java libraries no longer need to be installed on users’ computers, thus increasing the availability of both the
user interface and the
network.Since the new tool records all the necessary information in an internal folder, it neither needs to be installed, nor does it modify any registry entries on the computer. Alternatively, HiView can also be run from portable storage media such as USB sticks or SD cards.

Arco offers sound advice on workplace hearing loss N
oise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the biggest occupational health problems facing the UK. It was reported that 19,000 cases of NIHL were caused or made worse by work between 2009/10 and 2011/12. Despite NIHL being 100 per cent preventable, new cases are frequently reported in manufacturing, construction, extraction, energy and water supply industries, highlighting that it is a problem that still needs to be tackled. As part of its commitment to safety, Arco, the UK’s leading supplier of safety equipment and products, has developed an Expert Guide designed to provide guidance on managing and preventing hearing loss
in the workplace. This guide goes hand in hand with Arco’s comprehensive range of noise detection and hearing protection products to help businesses keep employees safe at work, including ear plugs, ear muffs, high-noise communication systems and validation solutions.

Tough Adaptasteel conduit systems
I
very year thousands of employees are injured whilst repairing and maintaining machinery. Scafftag, the equipment status management
specialists, has devised seven simple steps to safer machinery using Lockout Tagout products. Lockout Tagout (LOTO) is a critical safety standard that impacts virtually all workplaces that have machinery. The Lockout Tagout programmes are designed to prevent accidental start-up of machines or equipment, and to prevent the release of stored energy during servicing or maintenance. This is done through the use of specific procedures that involve applying locks and/or tags as direct controls. Equipment is then isolated from energy sources and injuries to workers are prevented. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), states that ‘every employer shall ensure that where appropriate work equipment is provided with suitable means to isolate it from all its sources of energy.’ Therefore, the lockout procedures serve as a check sheet to ensure that employees completely de-energise the equipment before servicing, avoiding mistakes and minimising the risk of accident or injury.

n the demanding environments encountered in the construction industry, engineering sector and in machinery applications, the presence of corrosive liquids, chemicals or oils will damage vulnerable power and data cabling. The risk of abrasion can also pose a major problem. With a core of galvanized steel, combined with a high specification jacket covering, Adaptasteel flexible metallic conduit systems offer the right level of protection. Manufactured by Adaptaflex, these conduit ranges
include Adaptasteel SPL, SPLHC & SPUL covered steel flexible conduit combined with M type fittings for liquid tight applications with high IP levels up to IP68. Type SPL is an oil resistant conduit consisting of PVC covered galvanised steel. Type SPLHC is covered in thermoplastic rubber for use in extremely high temperatures, whilst Type SPUL is also PVC covered and both UL and CSA approved. Straight fixed and swivel fittings are available together with elbows and terminators.
